Discount Family Subscriptions!

Before I made the switch from Rdio to Spotify they (Rdio) came up with a pricing model that allowed families to purchase a slightly discounted subscription.

$9.99 for single unlimited user

$17.99 for 2 family members (20% discount)

$22.99 for 3 family members (50% discount)

Would love to see a similar pricing model so the rest of the family could get in on the action!

Hey folks! We've introduced Spotify Family. With Premium for Family, you and up to 5 members of the same household can each enjoy their own Premium account. All for one discounted price of $14.99.

hub and I went to the gym today, both jammin on spotify for about ugh...30 seconds before we both figured out we will be canceling spotify if they dont all the use of 2 devices at once. I mean its seriously going to be a major downside if they cannot up the game. Id be on board with the 9.99 a month on up to 2 simutaneous devices. Id be willing to pay up to 4 dollars more for up to 4 and so on. I say this bc married couples with no kids could  still share spotify at the current rate, and people with much larger families could make the choice to increase the plan. Just my thought, and Im stickin to it!

As mentioned, there's already a similar idea about this here:

Add your kudos there please! 😉

How long has this been "under construction"? It's been almost a year (if not longer!) since they said they would have family plans coming. I don't see how this could be so difficult to implement.

I'm seriously considering switching back over to Rhapsody simply for the ability to have 2 users on at once. It's so frustrating to get kicked off when the other person is listening to it in the room next door.

Love Spotify, but this is definitely a cramp in my love for them. I was more than happy to pay for "Premium" service, but I keep running into barriers like this one, which make the experience anything but Premium.

I inderstand the license is for one user only, but for a paid service not to be able to be used in one home is crazy. iTunes opened up their music for a whole home with thier home sharring. When you buy a song from iTunes the licensing is for personal use as well... but yet it can be sharred with up to FIVE additional devices/other accounts. Netflix streaming lets me stream at least three simultanious connections.

After reading this thread, I am going to check out MOG or Rdio, see whats up over there. Spotify really needs to work this out. Although, I don't see that happening as long as record labels still have a strangle hold on the industry.

Streaming music, digital downloads, musicians and listeners will not be the death of the industry... the death of the music industry will come from the labels themselves as they fight the change. And along with them musicians, services, and listeners will suffer.

Anyways, I got off on a tangent there... lets find a way to make Spotify Premium a bit more Premium, and at least allow both my wife and I to listen to music.

Fingers crossed for Deezer to enter the US market as well...

I'm really tired of getting my eight year-old's music library (favorites, playlists) mixed up with mine and the occasional frustration of not being able to listen at the same time as him.

A family plan, such as the competitor's, looks really great. Even though I do pay for the Premuim $10.00/mo for a single user profile, it is a little on the high side for the value (I understand the model, though), so I will not pay $10.00/mo for additional profiles.

On the other hand, I would pay for additional profiles (two additional!) if additional profiles are discounted as in the competitor example. There is value in that convenience and I would do it.

Spotify: Please offer this soon. I really like your service and platform but will consider moving if this isn't offered within the next two months. I signed up for the Premium under the pretense that Spotify was working on this. The convenience of discounted additional profiles outweighs the inconvenience of me switching platofrms.

i like the concept of a family plan - we have 2 teens and of course Dad and I  (4 total) - i would like to see the discount not only apply to premium.  I can't imagin spending $30+ for music for all of us anyway.  I would probably max our family investment at around $20 for 4 licenses.

I'd also like to see a discount for pay in advance?  I've had a sirus radio for several years and LOVE that I can pay a year at at time and save 25%

Please, please add a family subscription.  Until you do, it's just way to expensive for a family to use spotify.

I just signed up for spotify. I like the fluidity of use but will probably cancel unless they add support for simultaneous use. If this is not something both my wife and I can use at the same time it ultimately will not work for me. I am also not going to kick in much more than $10/month for it. At more than 12 bucks a month I will just find my music elsewhere.
