[Discover] Please add a "Not Interested" Button

As the title suggests, it would be useful if Spotify had a "not interested" button like YouTube does for videos. I have been using Spotify for many years and still receive a lot of recommendations for playlists and podcasts that I am simply not interested in. One such example is "Learn Korean and Korean Culture" by jerry. I have no interest in learning Korean whatsoever, so it would be useful for me to remove recommendations such as these.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for all the support and feedback you've given to this idea!

We have some exciting news to share with you: in the mobile app, it's now possible to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of your Home screen by tapping Not interested in the context menu of the cards:

The content you mark as "not interested" will instantly be removed from your subfeed and won't show up again. Any other songs/albums/episodes by that artist/podcast show will also be filtered out from future recommendations.

After tapping Not interested, an Undo button will pop up at the bottom of the screen for a short time so you can revert the changes.

Keep in mind that this feature is gradually rolling out, so if you don't see the button in the context menu of the cards, we'd recommend making sure that you're running the latest version of Spotify. If you're having trouble with, or have any other questions about this feature, feel free to reach out in the relevant Help board here.

Thanks again for helping us make Spotify better. We're always striving to provide the best possible user experience and your feedback is always appreciated.

I've commented on a similar thread (https://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Windows/Remove-suggestions-from-Home/m-p/5212033#M100296) which was when I had ASMR ads all over my spotify home page, despite not ever listening to or investigating anything of the sort. Now, I'm getting ads for some 'shows' on my home page which, when I've gone to screenshot right now, has been replaced by podcast recommendations that have covered my home page ever since I listened to two 7am podcasts for an assignment two years ago.

Firstly, it's evident that some of these must be sponsored or something similar, since other users have also reported Joe Reagan suggestions in their home page, despite having completely different listening tastes to myself, as well as never showing interest in this. If it's advertising to people who haven't listened, then it's more disappointing as someone who's paid for premium (and continues to do so), that I'm receiving forced advertisements that reduces usability of the service to not see.

Secondly, the advertisement that has recently vacated my home page is borderline inappropriate (and I can guarantee coasting several advertisement regulations) and if I were a parent, I wouldn't be allowing my child to use Spotify. It's darn well disgusting.

*edit - addition of this screen clip.

Thirdly, you're attempting to suggest podcasts based on my listening history from 2 YEARS ago. Listening tastes change, interests change, and there's a **bleep** lot more data you've got on my listening history than a few podcasts in a short time period from 2 years ago.

What frustrates me even more is the reply moderators from the previously mentioned post provided, diverting the idea to this: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/All-Platforms-Customize-Start-Screen/idi-p/4528183 , which if you can't access, shows this large icon in the right top-hand corner:

I understand Spotify is a large service with a large number of consumers, and that 5000 votes may not be overwhelmingly supportive, but the ability to say 'not interested' or the implementation of home page customisation isn't going to negatively affect anyone. If people want to use it they can, if they don't, they don't, simple.

At minimum, get**bleep** off my home page, please, some of it I'm not interested in, some are atrocious, and others are taking the space of a suggestions system I would otherwise utilise.

Really hope this gets added.  I don't use spotify for podcasts at the moment, but even if I did, I would have no interest in podcasts about religion or pseudoscience.

It would be great to be finally able to talk back and say: no Spotify, I don’t want to learn Russian and I’m very much not interested in your Russian language podcast. Still not interested after two years and starting to hate it.

Not only would I want a 'Not Interested' option, but also potentially a way to prioritize what content is showcased on the Spotify homepage (i.e. new releases from artists commonly listened to, playlists made for us, discover something new, etc.)

I listened to less than 20 seconds of one podcast, and by accident because I thought it was a playlist of 90's music, and not hour long talks about songs from the 90s. Now my homepage is consistently sitting on a 'Popular with the listeners of X podcast'. I really don't care about using Spotify for podcasts, and would love for this to go away. One of my favorite things was being able to refresh the Spotify home page and get another recommendation of a new release from artists.

I have no way to go back and find that one time I listened to that stupid podcast for 20 seconds and clear it from the history or remove this recommendation from my home screen. It's completely counterintuitive to what I want from my experience within the application and wish it would get the hint that I don't want to go down the podcast rabbit hole no matter how much it's being advertised at me.

Commenting here to lend my support and to say I've canceled my spotify premium after many years due to this issue not being addressed. I refuse to have celebrity podcasters cluttering my homepage when I'm trying to find music to listen to during work--especially celebrity podcasters that are promoting political nonsense for engagement. There are other music streaming services out there, after all.

Unfortunately, spotify is heavily invested in the success of podcasts on their platform, so I doubt a few cancellations will move them on this. Hopefully, someone in leadership understands the long-term damage to their brand that something like this can cause, and make a decision for the overall health of the platform and brand, rather than for the next quarterly report.

I would love this button, it will help tune the app as for some reason at the moment I am getting a playlist of electronic music, which is good, then sprinkled with Canto-Pop...

I have never listened to Canto Pop and never will... like someone throttling a cat.

The button would be great as it seems recently something has changed and random music is being promoted/added, which really hurts my enjoyment of Spotify.

I am looking at 2 horrible faces from 2 stupid podcasts i once opened but never want to hear again. Somehow, these 2 are now "my shows" I need to get rid of this from my apps asap as it starts to annoy**bleep** out of me

Very frustrating.  Two "shows" showing on my homescreen. I have no interest in and it really annoys me, every time I open Spotify.   Happy to suggest stuff to me, however this is getting silly - many months these "suggestions" have been on my homepage, and I have not and will not interacted with - GET RID !

- This should not be the case for a product I am paying for.  Disappointed.

This is a really great idea,  most of the chats I handled is requesting for this feature. Users should have the option to personalize the stuff being suggested and to remove those that they didn't prefer to see on their app.

FolcoDurand

I think it's a nice idea to discover other suggestion.
