Display total historical plays

On the top listened to songs for me spotify should show how many times you've listened to that song, like itunes e.g. does.

I would most definitely love that feature. It's a useless thing for others, but I'm kind of OCD about it, and when plays aren't counted, I get agitated *that's on iTunes*.

I don't think that a total play count would nullify your minimalistic style. It's just a column, or you could embed this info somewhere else.

It'd be useful also when you come to a playlist you already listened unless for some contents. I think it's kinda important!! 🙂

Just make a last.fm account, Spotify already has a built in plugin for it anyway.

There is no design philosophy everybody can agree on.

Spotify holds a far too valuable & accessable resource to not be easily managed by it's customers. We deserve to have basic viewing rights on our own statistics!

Features can be added, and still remain invisible.

Did anyone else notice that the detailed usage stats aren't in Facebook anymore either?  They went too minimalist now. I miss seeing those stats!!

We're happy to announce that we've started rolling out play counts on top tracks in Spotify. Now you can check out how many total, global plays a top track has in Spotify. Right now, play counts are only available on top tracks in the desktop version but we plan to make play counts available on other platforms soon. Enjoy!

Interesting. I always wondered if the top tracks were based off of historical plays or based off of "Starred" status. Now it seems pretty evident they are based off of the starred status since the historical plays aren't in order. I'm sure there could be debates whether a song is more populare if it has been played more often or if the starred status is a better indicator.

Still a pretty cool feature. Doesn't help me much with large name artists. But for the less-well-known groups I follow, it will be interesting to see if their music is becoming more well known by the populus.

@ detmer14 "Top Tracks" are a mixture of total plays and what’s trending right now. In a way, the title "Top Tracks" isn't perfect but we're working on that as well.
