Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

The fact that this has thousands of thumbs up, and 95 pages of comments a year later should really show you how much people hate this "feature". Seeing how Spotify ignores its users desires, I think it is time to switch to one of the numerous competitors.

Smart Shuffle is a nuisance; it is confusingly/misleadingly designed, with kludgy implementation, and your community management/engagement efforts have left/are leaving much to be desired.The result is a seriously degraded/damaged user experience. I am starting to associate the Spotify brand with very bad/unpleasant things most every time I use the app. This is not a good indicator for your 'good will' valuation metrics..

Fix this broken part of the user experience.

I know other posts already exist about disabling smart shuffle, but you haven't added the option to disable smart shuffle or make smart shuffle its own toggle, so here we are. I curate playlists for myself so that I can either listen through or shuffle the songs specifically in my playlist. The fact that, in order to switch from playing straight through to shuffling MY curated list, I have to deal with the "smart" shuffle option (in addition to its obnoxious delay) before being able to switch to the next option...is simply INFURIATING. Not considering, but absolutely WILL be switching services over this annoyance if not fixed.

As a power user of spotify, I want to shuffle through the songs in my playlists without recomendations added, so that I can purposefully review specific music I have chosen to explore.

I would like the option in user preferences to have ALL playlists default to "Smart Shuffle Off" rather than the current default which I believe is "smart shuffle on" and is only configurable on a playlist by playlist basis.

Its 2024 and a few months away from 2025 and Spotify has IGNORED everyone here! Smart shuffle hasnt changed at all!! Its became just more annoying than ever! Now my playlist always defaults to smart shuffle. This is unacceptable!!

I have been a long time Spotify subscriber. I generally find Spotify to be technically excellent and the high quality experience in the client is a big part of that. Smart shuffle is the absolute worst feature Spotify has ever implemented. The way it works is an insult to every single customer. Turning on and off the feature is very slow and there is no way to avoid turning it on if you wish to turn on shuffle at all. To add insult to injury, turning it off frequently does not work the first time you try. Instead, it will turn itself back on after a half second or so. 

No change has brought me closer to switching services then Smart shuffle and no single change would improve the service more than making it optional.

Another example of how the Spotify development team are justifying their existence by constantly lobbing in dumb new features that people don't want. 

"Here's an artist we think you like!". I don't. 

"Here's a live show for one of your favourite artists!" - they're not one of my favourite artists and I have no desire to see them live. 

"Here's a bunch of recommended audiobooks!" I don't listen to audiobooks. 

"Here are the editors picks!" I don't know who the editors are, but I have no desire to listen to their "picks". 

And can I switch this **bleep** off? No. I am so tired of Spotify thinking it knows better than me what I want to listen to, and am now jacking in my subscription and moving to Apple Music. Spotify is now a bloated, unwieldy app and I am sick of their "editors" (whoever they may be) thinking they know my music taste better than me.

Ibland skäms jag att va svensk. Vi svenskar måste anpassa oss efter andra och inte tvärt om. Nu är Spotify svenskt företag och det sitter en bunt ärthjärnor som programmerar saker dom tycker är bra och blundar för allt som är totalt fel.. Förr gick det att ringa till Spotify. Men dom tog bort den funktionen för det blev jobbigt att få kretik. Så dom startade detta. Detta vi skriver kommer aldrig fram till resultat till Spotify 

En betald samårdnare bearbetar vissa posetiva saker allt negativa försvinner spårlöst.
