[Playlists] See which playlists a song has already been added to

Sometimes I think of or hear a song and I want to add it to a certain playlist but I’m not sure if it’s already in there, or I just want to know what playlists it’s in (e.g. I accidentally added the song to the wrong playlist and want to take it out, but wasn't sure which one I accidentally clicked/pressed on). It would be nice to to have a feature where you can check which playlists of yours a song has been added to. I know that you there’s a notification if it’s a duplicate, but it would be more convenient if the song is in multiple playlists to just see all of them at once rather than getting that notification one by one for all of them, if that make sense.

Edit: someone in the comments suggested having checkmarks next to the playlist names in the "Add to playlist" drop-down and that would be perfect!

Hi everyone,

Thank you for all the support and feedback you've given to this idea!

We have some exciting news to share with you: you can now tap the green check mark icon Check Mark Icon.png of a song/episode to see which playlists it's been saved in! You also get quick access to all of your playlists in case you want to add the song/episode to (or remove it from) some of your other playlists:

The playlists the item's been saved in will also have a check mark. The playlists the item's been saved in will also have a check mark.

Thanks again for helping us make Spotify better. We're always striving to provide the best possible user experience and your feedback is greatly appreciated.

I think that when you go to add a song to a playlist, that the playlists you have the song on already should appear at the top of the list. That way you can easily check what playlists a song is on, remove them from those playlists, or make sure you aren't adding a song to another playlist when you already have it somewhere. I have a lot of playlists and it's too difficult to sort through them to find what song is where. Additionally, there could a be a feature to search a song in your library and the playlists that song is on will pop up.

THIS ROCKS!

This worked for one day (yesterday) for me on mobile and now the feature is gone AGAIN. Y’all gotta be kidding me. 😭 Hopefully the next update will fully implement this.

A tab that lets you know which playlist a song is already in. All there is a green tick. Also when clicking to "Add to playlist" it should come up with the list of playlist to add the song to, not automatically add it to "Liked Songs". This is where the problem initally arose for me, whilst browsing music, it would have the green tick and I would assume I have added it to the correct playlist, meanwhile the song is only in "Liked Songs" and not in my desired playlist. Another issue is when I am scrolling through, finding new songs, I listen to parts of a song and skip along the way to build up a playlist swiftly. By clicking "add to playlist" and it only automatically adds it to "Liked Songs" makes it tedious to go into the menu and specifically allocate the song. Its double the work.

One of the biggest reoccurring changes I’ve see on Mobile is the User Interface for showing what playlists a song is in. I’ve seen this change go back and forth over the past few months from showing all playlists at the top when adding a song for ease of song management, to removing this feature to keep playlists listed in a row. Since this change has been flip flopped a couple times, it might be helpful to have this as a toggle feature for “Show Playlists that contain this song”. This would be very helpful for playlist management because sometimes you’d want to know every playlist that a song is in, but also sometimes when you want to add a song, you want to see just a list of your current playlists.

That's a great idea!

Please add a feature where when I go to a song, I can highlight and choose the option "Show In My Playlists" That will show all playlists I've created in my library that include that song. At times I know I have a song on a playlist or multiple playlists, but I don't know which playlists (or they have random titles and I can't find them easily) and this would help make it easy to find. I need to fulfill that instant itch to listen to that record or playlist vibe that will get me in the zone. I'm certain this functionality will have an impact far beyond myself and help the Spotify community re-engage with music they haven't listened to in a while. This would be a certified hit ahead of the summertime when everyone is OUTSIDE listening to jams. Hope someone reads this, and implements. I don't need any credit, but want to keep the vibes high at all times.

When adding a song from search to a playlist, the new version displays a list of playlists you already have the song on. Why would I be adding a song to a playlist it’s already on? You have to scroll to find a playlist it’s not on (usually I’m aiming for the one I’m currently listening to). On that screen it’s also really easy to click “clear all” which would delete the song from any playlist it’s on. This change is so counter intuitive.

(also on a separate note this feedback system has been the most frustrating part of my day, and I’ve tried to submit this three times so you know I actually am really thrown by this latest update)
