[Radio] Modifiable Thumbs up/down

1) Change Thumbs up to Thumbs Down

2) Change Thumbs down to Thumbs up

3) Remove thumbs up

4) Remove thumbs down

5) See a list of your thumbs up for a playlist

All of these should exist, if not in the app at least on the website.

Updated on 2019-05-23

Hey folks,

It seems like this idea has evolved into a lot of different threads over the years. Quite a lot of the features requested do exist, so I'm going to mark this as implemented - but if you feel like your specific idea isn't there please feel free to make a new idea

As a heads up, Thumbs up/down has been replaced by the Heart/Remove symbol across all platforms. Let's address some of the main ideas that have been implemented:

  • It is now possible to undo Heart or Dislike actions in your Daily Mixes, Discover Weekly and Release Radar. If you Heart a song, simply tap the Heart again to get rid of it.
  • When tapping the Dislike button, you'll get a choice of 'Don't play this song' or 'Don't play this Artist'. Tapping either will prompt an Undo option at the bottom of the screen for if you hit it by mistake, or your cat walked over your screen (@dredel)

  • Tapping Heart will save that song to Your Library, so you can head there to check out all the songs you've liked. This will also include Songs and Albums you've saved in other areas of the app. I couldn't find an idea for a playlist specifically of just liked songs (without the rest of the library) so it would be a good suggestion for a new idea.

I hope this clears some things up.

Tom, based on what you described, it does not sound like the request has been implemented and I don't think you should mark this as resolved.

The very specific case was: A particular track is marked "Thumbs Down" (or don't like) and Confirmed. Later on, you want to review all disliked songs and "un-dislike" some of them. Perhaps you accidentally hit (and confirmed) dislike, or perhaps your tastes have changed. So you would need a playlist that shows all songs that have been disliked so you can review the list and remove any tracks where your preference has changed.

Am I missing something completely here?  It says implemented, but on Spotify for Mac, I still don't see any way to modify... and I STILL can't get rid of this song that I absolutely HATE.

I chose artist radio, and select the artist I want, and this awful song keeps showing up... I don't see ANY way to dislike it....

I agree with @dredel , the recently released changes do not address the original concerns. I particularly like his highlighted case where tastes may change.

Additionally, I think it's odd that we have to save a song to our library in order to tell a station to play similar songs. I treat my songs librarary as a favorites playlist, and I know many others that do too. I would like to be able to interact with stations separately from my songs library, this feature does not seem to allow for that. If I just happen to think a particular song fits the station and I would like that info to be saved, now I need to add that song (which I may like, but not love) to my list of favorite songs? Doesn't make sense to me. The two should be separate. Each station should have a separate list of "Heart" and "Dislike" songs per station so users can easily edit their preferences for the station in an intuitive way.

I'd like to add (Since I don't see a way of editing my old post . . . ) that the changes only apply to "Daily Mixes, Discover Weekly and Release Radar", so this means that we still have no way of properly interacting with artist or playlist radios and stations?

simple thing. people saying, WHERE IS THE 'DISLIKE BUTTON' OVER THE YEARS!!! and still no clear answer for this simple question.

This is all very well, but the main point you seem to be missing here is that there is now no way to dislike a song playing from a radio station.  This means that radio stations on Spotify can no longer be improved over time and effectively makes them pretty useless.

Exactly. The person that came in here and decided to “set this to implemented” didn’t even understand what the gripe is.

It's been strange watching this thread over a couple years. People at Spotify tried to shut this thread down, then tried to say it was being considered so that they could bury this thread, and now they're trying to change the original intent of this thread by saying the idea has been implemented.

Really baffling as to why they keep trying to bury this thread instead of trying to actually work on this.

I Googled my issues and was (initially) pleasantly surprised that there was already a thread AND a solution!  Oh so sad to see that almost **bleep** pages and... (apparently 7 years since the thread was started) that there's still no solution!  I'm listening to an Artist Radio (not the "Artist Radio" Playlist that Spotty is trying to tell me is a radio station) and was LOVING  a song that was playing!  I went to "Thumbs up" and, too quickly, accidentally hit the Thumbs Down and instantly the song that I was excited about disappeared!  I found the artist, Followed them, even added the song back into the playing queue, but nothing.

PLEASE help us make it an option to edit our Thumbs -upped and Thumbs-downed tracks!  NOT the same as the "hearted" or "do not play this song/artist" (which I do like too!).  There needs to be a way to view/edit this kind of thing instead of being stuck with the consequenses of our human error for eternity!

Thank you for listening/helping?...

I want a list of songs that I ever pushed the "I dislike this song" button.

There were some songs that I accidentaly pushed that button, even if I actually really liked it.

If thre is a list of those "I disliked", I can make those song come back to the playlist again by undoing it...

Please make a such option! please please!!
