[Samsung] Spotify for Samsung TV - Tizen OS

Would be really nice to have in this year the Spotify app available for the 2015 and 2016 models of Samsung Smart TV's running Tizen OS, at least some kind of beta or limited functionality one if not fully working. It's a shame that Spotify is still not available in the Samsung SmartHub after 2 years of the release of the new platform.

For anyone wondering if he has 2015 model, your TV model name has to contain J or L in the name after the screen size in the model name (or check with something like this).

Niwa you're completely right. There's a topic in which we were discussing this issue for months but Spotify still didn't announce anything about supporting this platform... so I posted this idea. Hopefully Spotify won't ignore this. Until then my Premium account is cancelled as a sign of protest.

Likewise I would very much like to see Spotify develop the Tizen compatible app. To miss out on a leading TV platform is dropping the ball.

Hey spotiy! Deezer and Rdio have tizen TV app, Tidal is working on it. What about you?

FYI, 2015 Samsung Tizen TVs have an emulator that allows apps for older platforms to be run, but the apps have to be installed through a USB stick. I am successfully running Emby this way, even though they don't have official support for Tizen OS. If anyone with an older jailbroken Samsung TV can extract the app files for Spotify, I am willing to test if they work on ny Tizen TV.

@deadnex I'm sorry for offtopic, but could you give me some tips how to install emby? 🙂 I've managed to enter developer mode so far, but i have no idea where to find this app to download (there's only an IP adress shown in one topic). Thanks in advance

If you add /widgetlist.xml to the ip address you already have, you can find the download link to the package zip file.

I.e. http://xx.xx.xx.xx/widgetlist.xml

Verify that the index.html and config.xml files are on "root" level inside the zip file. (that you do not have to open another folder inside the zip file to see them) If they are inside another folder, you must first unpack the zip file and create a new uncompressed zip file.

To install it you need an empty USB stick formatted as FAT32. Create a folder named userwidget, place the zip file inside this folder and plug it in the TV. There is no need to enable developer mode on the TV.

I just hope we get Spotify at least as a Christmas present because the year is almost over and I'm starting to lose hope.
