Show original year of album release

I'd like to be able to see the date an album was originally released, even if the current version is a re-release. So many albums are re-released that for some artists it looks like all of their albums came out in the last few years, even though some of them may actually be a decade old or older.

When this happens, I wind up just having to go to Wikipedia or Allmusic to find out the real info. But why drive me away from the Spotify experience?

We're excited to announce that we've managed to implement this idea. Recently, our content team has made some improvements to the way we validate and interpret content from rights holders. We've updated nearly 50,000 albums already! You may notice some remaining content not showing accurate original release year and we're working on improving this content in the coming months. Thanks for the feedback and enjoy the music.

Wouldn't it be nice to see the actual date and not just the year? Perhaps I am asking to much but I personally would like to see a month and day, a month at the very least.

So... this says it is implemented but I can't really tell how because it's still my biggest annoyance of the service (outside of the app & ux itself of course), and I run into it frequently...

When looking up an artist, and going through their discography eg.'Show Albums', why on earth would anyone want to be greeted with an anachronistic out of whack timeline of content?

I assume marking as 'implemented' means that theres more strict naming conventions around remasters, but it doesn't really fix the problem if only the remaster of an album exists on spotify...

To solve this you surely need the original field for "Year" to be the source of truth of the original release year, letting you chronologically sort music you know, that kinda important 4th dimension... The entire point of music being released is that it ...is released, at an all important time and place. Any other field for the year of any re-releases/remasters, or something more sensible like having in the name [2018 Remaster] etc.

It's so nice to see that controlling the right time for album releases is still an issue and all responsibility lies with the album release company or artist and listeners can't give feedback. Just caught my eye:

all albums have the wrong year, i.e. upload time, not release date
