Subscribe to Artists

I know for a fact that myself and a lot of people I know would love a feature that lets you subscribe to an artist or a group, immediately letting one know when a new album/track has been released.

Also when adding that artist a counter should rise so we can see how many fans an artist have. That would be a goog popularity

Who is waiting just for months? This feature has been requested years ago. *yawn* And I still have no possibility to mark artists - to browse a list of my favorite artists. 

And: I'm watching this space since a long time - and there is nothing happening. So why should I watch this space?

I am less concerned with being able to follow new releases than I am with being able to simply star an artist rather than manually starring each individual album. This feature would prove very helpful in my case.

Yes, this should not be an add-on app.  I think it should work like the notification flag you see when a friend from Facebook has joined Spotify.  I have HUNDREDS of albums saved as playlists, so it's impossible to go back and check all of them to see if a new album has been released.

I want less a subscribe option, and more simply a way to star artists - a list of all the artists I like, perhaps with related artists, when I go to listen to music.

Basically so I can open the program, go to my favourite artists, and pick an album.

Currently I either save a new playlist for every album I like (ends up with a stupid number of playlists, which is pointless because in the absense of any sensible playlist orgnanisation you just end up with a long list with the most recent at the top) or just use the search box.

The upshot is, every time I want to listen to an artist, I have to specifically think of them and type the full name of the group. Seriously, I shouldn't have to do that every time.

I love this idea! It's just the thing I miss the most! I hope that some near day becomes a reality!

It would be great when you get an automatic notify/message/popup/mail if some of your (favorite) artists has a new album released in spotify.
