Subscribe to Artists

I know for a fact that myself and a lot of people I know would love a feature that lets you subscribe to an artist or a group, immediately letting one know when a new album/track has been released.

I was just going to pOst this idea. It would be great if I could follow an artist and then let me know when they have a new album or track available. Please Spotify crew could you do this?

Looks like Spotify is not really bothering but just merging / matching / having fun with talking to the community. The people working on this space are doing a good job - but the people behind it do not seem to care.

This idea is not quite as old as the dinosaur - but almost. Not it's "watch this space" for a looooooong time. I'm watching it already. And again - and again and... well you get the picture. Nothing is happening. 

Therefore I created the idea "Get Spotify to look at ideas propsed here". In case you want to give it some kudos...

Thanks for liking this community....we are doing our best here 😉

The ideas process is quite complex,,,Spotify is moving really fast and a lot of things happen "behind" everyday. We are all working hard in order to provide users the best Spotify experience ever, that is why sometimes some features take more time than we expected in the first place or the other way around....sorry for that. As I said we all, in "front" and "behind", are working very hard. 

However in this case, this is still under the "Watch this space" status, which means:

"It is now being discussed internally. Don’t hold you breath, but it might happen…"

Hopefully we will mark this as "Implemented" soon. We hear you guys loud and clear.

So what's then the difference between "watch this space" and "under consideration"? And if this is true then there are no real news expected for the top 17 ideas here since they are all under "not right now" "watch this space" or oder "under consideration"... What's then the point of the community?

The highest rated one even has still the comment "give it some more kudos". So: How much higher does it need to go until the status changes?

When you say "It is now being discussed internally. Don’t hold you breath, but it might happen…" I would say "everything may happen eventually"

@anananas: here you´ll find the meaning of all the statuses, where you can check the difference between them: http://community.spotify.com/t5/Newcomers-and-Contribution/Submitting-Spotify-Ideas/m-p/78485/messag...

The "Not Right Now" and "Watch this space" statuses are at the same stage and after the "under consideration" (it is like an "internal feedback" status). So after the internal discussion, one status means that the idea might be implemented soon (watch this space) or it will not be implemented soon (not right now).

I hope this clarifies you a bit how the ideas process works. Please feel free to give us your feedback on it, this is a "beta" community and we are trying to improve it day by day. 

@hpguru: this idea is on the last level before being implemented ("watch this space"---"implemented"). The Spotify team is working on it. I will keep you all posted.
