[Your Music] Add & Remove Content separately (Artist, Album, Songs)

I am really enjoying the new update that I received earlier today that adds the "Your Music" area to Spotify, but I would like to throw out some ideas to help make the feature more enjoyable.

While using the new + feature to add songs to the songs list in the "Your Music" area I noticed that it also adds the artist and the album to their respected areas. You should be able to remove an album and/or artist from their list without it removing that specific song from it's list. This feature should be implemented for the song, artist, and album section.

Example:

If I click the new + symbol on the song: "Bun B - Get Throwed", it will add it to the song, artist, and album list in the new "Your Music" section.

If I remove that song from the "song" list in the "Your Music" area it will remove the song from the artist and album list as well.
If I remove that album from the "album" list in the "Your Music" area it will remove the song and artist list as well.

If I remove that artist from the "artist" list in the "Your Music" area it will remove the song and album list as well.

I should be able to edit and arrange these individual list to my liking. If I want a "Bun B" track in my song list, but not in my album and artist list I should have the ability to do so.

Hey folks,

Thanks for adding your vote to this idea.

The recent update to Spotify has changed the way liking things works that now reflect this idea.

Liking an album or song won’t automatically follow the artist, but you can follow them from their artist profile and find Recommended artists to follow in Your Library where you can follow them with one tap.

If you'd like to know more about the changes to the app, you can check out the article here.

Thanks 💚

Hi @user-removed,

I agree, you have a lot of valid points. Why don't you submit new ideas? That is the way to improve things.

Please create seperate ideas for each, like artis shuffle, download single song, etc, otherwise your idea will be rejected because it is against the rules to bundle ideas, which in understand since they become unmanageable.

Hope to see them around.

Regards,

René

In my opinion, one of the absolute best feature in "previous" Spotify was the ability to save partial albums ("saved" songs instead of "liked" songs). With this change, there's no way to achieve the same result again and is extremely annoying. I think this is one step backwards and i don't understand why this feature has been removed.

It was the perfect customization of my music; i save an album and every song gets saved. Then i go in and remove the songs i don't like. Then i have my customized album saved, the way i want it.

Disappointed.

Hi @MichaelBohlin,

I understand your issue. The old system had also weird issues. Fir example if you liked 1 song of an album, the album was added to your album list. Why? I don't want that album, I only like 1 song. Even worse, if you saved an album, all the songs were save automatically, then you removed the songs, guess what? The album was gone lso, although I saved the album (but not the songs). That was weird also.

I like the new concept, since an album is an album, the artist made that choice, that collection of songs in that order. If you remove songs, it's not the album anymore, of course you can make a playlist with your favorite songs of an album.

Just my opinion,

Regards,

René

Spotify has managed to make a bad situation even worse. That is not an easy thing to do. Now I don't use any of the library features anymore.

@rene01 I see what you are saying but the problem with your logic is we are not dealing with physical albums. Spotify is a digital streaming service. Apple made single song purchases from albums a possibility years ago! Also, Spotify only adheres to your logic on the album tab. Why are songs broken down by album under the artist tab even when I don't have an entire album saved? Shouldn't it just be a list of songs under the artist if keeping album structure is so important?? I will answer your first 'why' question for you. It is broken down by album so we can see what album the songs are on and can browse a specific album rather quickly for more songs if we want. Spotify obviously recognizes this is a needed feature because they maintained it with this update. The 'even worse' part of your comment is exactly the way the album tab works at the moment. You must like an album or save all songs for an album to be on the album tab. Remove a song and it is gone from the album tab. Isn't that exactly what you are talking about not liking in the functional version of Spotify?

Rene01

Hi @user-removed,

Thanks for explaining.

I think your last statement is wrong. When you remove a song, the album is not gone. The album tab is based on saved/liked albums only.

I don't save or like songs anymore. I only save or like the album and then it's on the album tab. Please check this again.

Thanks,

René

@rene01 When did that change? Previously, if I liked all songs on an album it showed up on the album tab.

Has anyone working for Spotify heard of this thing called documentation?

Rene01

Hi @user-removed,

Check this

November 2019 ... I just wanted to see what other songs I had in my library from that particular artist ... and the possibility is gone - poof!

I can't believe Spotify implemented that weird idea up there, from days long, by deleting the option to find artists you saved or liked songs of. That's an "improvement" as if you added a new gear to the bycicle, but took away all others. This, along with the cancellation of the "all songs" list kills spotify for me. If your developers don't steer the UI back towards logic, reason and usability asap, I'll sadly cancel my membership.

I can't believe this was implemented with only 749 votes. I want to be able to view MY LIKED SONGS by ALBUMS and ARTISTS.

This idea overcomplicates being able to view songs you like in other ways in order to help find them. Now I have to like a song THEN if I want to view it under ARTIST, follow the artist and if I want to view it on ALBUM, I have to then like the album (which then adds ALL the songs even if I don't like ALL the songs).

This is really backward.

Please make it so that if I LIKE a song you're able to view it under ARTIST and ALBUM.
