[Your Music] Make 'Your Music' offline on Desktop

This is a follow up of the idea: Ability to make "Your Music" offline

The issue is that on the desktop client, you cannot save music from "Your Library" offline at all, you must create a playlist.

 e.g.

Spotify Desktop (Your Music)

Notice that there's no way to make that particular album in "Your Music" available offline.

Yet on my Android client, I see a Download option near this album to make it available Offline:

Android (Your Music)

The only items that present such an option on the desktop client are playlists as shown below:

Desktop (Playlists)

On iTunes (Apple Music) however, I can make anything available offline on my desktop:

iTunes (My Music)

This for me is the biggest problem with Spotify and why I'm currently an Apple Music subscriber.  In general, the desktop client lags behind features on the mobile clients which are actually far better.

There are many more examples of differences that I can demonstrate, but this is the most important.

The ability to make My Music available offline on mobiles appeared more than a year ago.  Can we please have this and further differences addressed on the desktop client soon?

Thanks!

Fotis

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen.

We're happy to announce that this feature is now available on Desktop. You can now download not only playlists, but also albums and podcast episodes by clicking on the download icon so that it turns green Mihail_0-1625666628944.png

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better, by participating here on the Community.

You can make them available offline. Any playlist has a offline switch. This is about having a switch in 'songs' under the 'your music' section. Just to make the user friendly app more user friendly. Save having an extra playlist for all your songs to make them offline. Though. I dont mind coz my friends follow that playlist because it has all my songs. Lol.

Spotify really needs to make this asap.
I was thinking in getting the family plan, but if they don't put again the Available Offline switch I'll have to try another problems, wich for me is fine.
There are many little things like this, but really annoying that makes me really think about leaving spotify.

Please develop this idea, i need it so much!!!!

Good grief, have just subscribed to Premium so I can sort out music to listen to offline while travelling and am staggered to find that this feature is not available on my desktop!!!

After an hour searching and following instructions that seemed to be impossible to implement (it is not at all clear what device instructions apply to) I was looking for a way to post a plea for help when I saw this thread. Get your act together, Spotify, or I'll be unsubscribing when I get home.

Yes yes, a million times yes!

Seriously why hasn't this happened yet? I broke my smartphone and now I always need wifi to listen to majority of my music. I dont want 100 playlists for all my music.  This needs to change quick!

i just make one playlist. called megamix,, and it is available offline,

every couple weeks or whenever i just click "songs" then highlight one track, cmd-a (command a   or contral a   for windows) and click drag to that playlist.

simple.... well, if you have basic computer skills then everything to do with spotify is.

That's the same workaround I have to perform to make all my songs available offline. Spotify even notices that some of them are already in there, and gives you the option to skip duplicates.

So why not add the "Available offline" switch in the "YOUR MUSIC > Songs" as well, if it's completely okay to download them for offline use with this workaround? Any reasonable explanation...?

I came in search for this information, after having spotify for at least 12 months and having the music stored locally on my laptop. Now, the 'available offline' button is missing when just browsing 'my music - songs' where as it used to be there, the same as my android and IOS devices! What the f! Why would I buy spotify if I cant play the same songs on my laptop when offline that I can on my phone? and why did I have this option before and not now??

ALSO - the 'extreme quality' download option is gone, what the hell?

The original thread asking for this is 2 years old. This should tell you everything you need to know. They have no intention of ever implementing this.
