**bleep** yeah, good work everyone! YELLING WORKS. politely but insistently complaining about a change is the best way to get it changed back.

I agree, but someone who is deaf probably wouldn’t be listening to music

Pardon me for going off topic but let me regale you with a four year old tale of woe about the abomination that pretends to be the "shuffle" in Spotify. While this is completely unrelated, this particular discussion shows that Spotify have the ability to respond to customer complaints.

Which proves to me that when it comes to problems with Spotify's shuffle, what's lacking is not the ability, but the will.

I honestly find this so stupid. Some of the lyrics don’t even work, so there’s no use in putting a paywall behind music that won’t give you lyrics. If you think this will make more people pay for premium, you are extremely wrong and delusional. People are going to hop onto different platforms or just look up the lyrics. I’m not paying for something every music app should give you for free. 🤦‍♀️

@Bryan193 have you heard of this thing called vibrations?

somnomania

@Bryan193 fully, 100% deaf, maybe not, but numerous people who are legally deaf/HOH have commented on this topic and say that lyrics are an enormous part of why they can still enjoy music.

Not a Spotify employee, but I am a web developer, so just my two cents: the lyrics are provided by a third party service (Musixmatch), and I'm guessing Spotify is high up on the list of their API's most prolific users. I would be willing to bet that the limit (which I've never encountered, but I only look at the lyrics very occasionally) is Spotify's way of keeping their usage in check. Any third party API like Musixmatch is going to very likely have usage based billing, and almost certainly have rate limits (limits to how many API calls can be made in a short span of time), so having a hard limit per user probably keeps their billing in check, and within what they've accounted for.

Just out of curiosity though, roughly how much use are you getting out of the lyrics before hitting this limit? I didn't even know it existed before I saw this thread.

Listening to the lyrics is also an option.
