Apple Watch: Offline Listening

 

watchOS 5 should allow Spotify to develop an app that allows offline listening and streaming via cellular data.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen.

Тhis has been one of our most upvoted ideas and we've known it's something that our users would really like to see come true. We're happy to announce that this feature will now become available for the Apple Watch Series 3 or later.


It will be gradually rolled out, so it might take a bit until everybody has access to it.  That being said, we'd like to let you know that the roll-out rate has increased a lot in the last weeks, so if you haven't received the feature in the past, try reinstalling the app on your watch again and there's a big chance you'll get Offline listening now.

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better and voting to make this happen, here on the Community.

and Spotify mute. do you know what i think? perhaps the offline and cellular functionality is an exclusive of Samsung's Galaxy Watch (and active).

I'm going to have to cancel my 7th year running subscription to spotify and get Apple music instead, because I found using the Apple Watch with Spotify or Apple Music is awesome. But without offline mode I have to have my phone with me everywhere. I dont want that.

Spotify has been my only music service I have paid for/used for the past few years. But if Spotify doesn't allow playing on the Apple Watch without my iPhone (either via download like Pandora/Apple Music) or stream), then I likely will have to say goodbye to Spotify. Please fix this soon. Thanks.

I cancelled my subs last week. Apple Music works fine and it is great listening Music without iPhone.

I cancelled spotify yesterday. Haven't yet setup Apple music. However, I discovered how to use favorite podcast player, Overcast. It's simple and easier than Apple's. having an apple 4 watch I could deleted apple podcast app. Things look and work simply. I walked listening to my pods without phone!! very happy. Next, is music set up.

Apple’s new Series 5 watch releases Sept 20 and I’m finally in the market for a sport watch. Lo and behold this issue has yet to be resolved.
