Add support for Google ChromeCast

Will you be adding support to the ChromeCast that Google announced today? Would be great to be able to easily stream music from all my devices to my receiver and tv.

Please see the Api information here: https://developers.google.com/cast/

Update: implementing ChromeCast is superior to using the Chrome browser plugin to move a tab with the Spotify web interface to your TV for multiple reasons. Most importantly:

 - You can stream higher fidelity

 - You can stream from every device, not only from a computer/laptop

 - You can control from multiple devices (so if I leave the room my wife can control Spotify with her phone)

If implemented correctly this would match the functionality of Sonos for a much lower price.

Update February 4th 2014: Okay, so Google has released the SDK now. Please start working on the functionality or at the very minimum give an update to the status...

Update February 19th 2014: 2,000 kudos, hundreds of replies (with more than a handful of cancelations). Apparently Spotify Germany has confirmed Chromecast support is coming. An update would be nice

Update March 24th 2014: 2,500 kudos and still no update. Cancelled my subscription today. Sorry, but if you don't listen to your paying customers we will have to speak with our wallets.

Updated: 2015-10-22

In collaboration with Google, we’re thrilled to announce one of your most requested features here in The Spotify Idea Exchange is here. Spotify now works with your Chromecast.

With Chromecast, listening at home is easy. Simply plug in and cast music directly from your phone or tablet. Play, skip, browse and search using the Spotify app--all Spotify users will get the on demand experience on Chromecast. Oh, and feel free to make calls, watch a video or play games - the music will keep playing. Even if your battery runs out.

I am still hoping you add Chromecast support to Spotify.

Now Spotify teams up with Withings 'to Rock Your Wake Up'.

Spotify should Rock itself!

Please Spotify, you should finally wake up and team up with your customers and implement Chromecast!

Why it was not implemented yet?

If you are willing to maintain your custumers you should have already added support for Chromecast.

That's insane! Total lack of consideration with custumers.

If it continue as is, I am going to move back to Rdio.

I have spotify with my mobile provider, but will stop using it cause they don't support chromecast!!

kiran94

I really want this to happen!

I don't understand the reluctance.  Why not support Chromecast?  It isn't that difficult.  What is the political motive behind refusal?  This single issue is probably going to make me stop my subscription and move to something that does work...possibly Google Play.  Please listen to your customers and do the right thing for them (and you)...

History teaches us that tech companies can die very quickly when the customers vote with their feet...and they never recover.

What is the problem with Spotify?

After 2 years and THOUSANDS of requests you are just ignoring your users?

Is it Google's fault?

Or is Spotify so greedy they cannot assign a couple of developers with this task?

Your practise is unacceptable and all the users in this post should just leave spotify if there are no results after all those requests!

It's nearly the end of 2015 and this is still a thing. Might have to take my family sub elsewhere. After one month of being with Spotify. What the hell is the issue here? Pride? Ineptitude? Or just plain ignoring your customers?

I started spotify a month ago via 99 cents for 3 months. I will be cancelling my membership at the end of three months due to their lack of customer service. This upsets me. I'll be taking advantage of the free at home via wifi but I'll take my money to google play. Scratch that Google play has everything and more than spotify. So peace out. Maybe I'll reconsider after they add the chromecast feature. The tv casting is a horrible option (on chrome casts part fortunately for spotify), it's slow and cuts out on music. So it's just easier to leave.

anyone interested in google play can chromecast here!
