[Ads] Ads Filter

I know we can't pick and choose what ads to see, but at least for a teensy bit of decency (especially for people listening to spotify in a professional work environment) can we not have half naked Victoria's Secret super sexy models?

Personally, I could care less about ads. And in fact, I am a woman who shops at Victoria's Secret. Still- I just had an awkward moment with some coworkers AND my boss. I'd like very much for that not to happen again. In the very least, how about an image that isn't half the size of the window?

I know no one's going to agree, and believe me, I'd be the last person to complain about spotify (it's awesome). But seriously, it's a bit much.

Thanks.

Duplicate idea.

I agree. This needs to happen.

I agree! The Durex ad keeps playing at work, so I mute it through my computer (not through Spotify!). Five minutes later when I turn the computer volume back up...the commercial starts playing again because it freezes in the same spot! How does it even KNOW that I'm turning my comptuer volume down? And regardless, I can't listen to condom ads at work! We need a safe-for-work adstream.

There should be an ad filter similiar to a lot of other products on the market now. Most people give the example of Hulu-style advertising where you can mark an advertisement as irrelevant or unwanted. Spotify would do well to follow the trend of target advertising for their users.

The alcohol and condom ads are inappropriate in most family friend or work places. Either give users target ads, an ad filter, the ability to down vote ads, or an auto-mute for the ads. There's plenty of complaints on the forums about the ads, so something needs to be done.

I agree.  The content of the ads is annoying.  I want an "this is offensive" or "these are my interests" option on the ads...then I might actually click on the links instead of wanting to delete spotify every time one of those ads comes on that I don't want to hear.

Make the ads based on the content of the songs listened to or a list of interests and make them less frequent.  Less people might be annoyed by them.

Condom ads? Those need to go. Please.

I actually switched from Pandora to Spotify BECAUSE of the ads Pandora was playing. In my work environment inappropriate ads were inexcuseable so I switched to Spotify and I haven't used Pandora since. Now Spotify has started using these ads!?!

The price we pay for the free version is ads, and I'm OK with that.  I'm not OK with all the Durex ads while my daughter and I are trying to listen to kid music.  When an ad comes on that I find offensive, for whatever reason, it would be nice to click a "Don't play this again" button.  Then I wouldn't have to worry, and I would gladly listen to whatever ad comes my way.

BackwardsDog

Hello there,

I think that the spotify people should not have to cater to your specific needs. Ads is what you put up with to

use this amazing service for free, and I don't think its reasonable to expect them to make this any less of a hassle.
$10 a month is absolutely worth it, and if the "sexual" ads are really too much for you, maybe consider paying the money. It would support a great service and solve your add problem.

Hope you have a great day!

@BackwardsDog: "Specific needs"?  You fail to realize how big an issue this is.  Just search the forums for the word 'condom' and you'll find several threads full of people who DO see the issue- some of them have KIDS who do not need to be exposed to unfilterable sexual content that users cannot even preemptively avoid (save by not using the service), and some- like me- are Christians who just don't want to hear it, especially not when I just want to enjoy some music.  I can, and have, put up with the ads up til now, but I will not be silent about the smut that has been plaguing Spotify lately.

And no, I will NOT reward this company's lack of discretion with money.  In fact, I will do the opposite- I won't even provide their ads with hits.  I've been migrating my library to Grooveshark, where there are no ads at all, let alone ones for Durex and the like.  I only check back in with the hope that Spotify will rid their otherwise great service of such disgusting advertising.

Yet with these ads still being around after so many weeks of complaints, I can't help but wonder if they even care about anything but the money.
