[Ads] Ads Filter

I know we can't pick and choose what ads to see, but at least for a teensy bit of decency (especially for people listening to spotify in a professional work environment) can we not have half naked Victoria's Secret super sexy models?

Personally, I could care less about ads. And in fact, I am a woman who shops at Victoria's Secret. Still- I just had an awkward moment with some coworkers AND my boss. I'd like very much for that not to happen again. In the very least, how about an image that isn't half the size of the window?

I know no one's going to agree, and believe me, I'd be the last person to complain about spotify (it's awesome). But seriously, it's a bit much.

Thanks.

Where and how can I report offensive, misleading and fraudulent ads especially around financial products on spotify? Should i approach the consumer grievance redressal body to enforce accountability on the quality of ads by spotify ad partners? There are all sort of people with varied degree of gullibility hooked to this account including families and kids

Personally, I would like maybe a thing that's like "What kinds of ads do you not want to see/hear?" or even just a way to tell Spotify "Hey, this ad I saw/heard? Please don't give me that again, thanks!" even something as simple as putting a sfw filter on ads or really just a self personalization that you can change at any time kind of thing.

Really anything to make it so Spotify doesn't give me ads for irrelevant things to me or uncomfortable topics. Like, excuse me I'm aroace WHY AM I GETTING ADS FOR FREAKING CONDOMS AND BIRTH CONTOL?!?!? Or heck, sure I'm a lady but do I have to hear about tampons?

And the Spanish ads- I have no understanding of the Spanish language beyond hola. I have 0 idea what any Spanish ads are about. The only Spanish ad I have gotten that I understood mostly was the FNAF ad, and that's only because I've seen the FNAF ads so many times I know what's being said. Digressing, Spotify REALLY needs to get an ad filtering system pronto.

Different ads have different monetary value, darling offended folks. It’s all organized, and unfortunately not around your feelings. Put your phone away if you’re afraid of being embarrassed. Enjoy the free ocean of music

I agree! I've gotten ads for horror movies before. I may be an adult, but that doesn't mean I don't get genuinely scared and affected by those ads... I wish there was an option for purely Safe-For-Work and G-rated ads. No sexy underwear, no horror movies, etc. On YouTube, if I don't like a specific ad, there's a button that lets me block it. That's beneficial for me as the user as well as for the company who paid for the ad- a horror movie marketing team deserves to have its ads going to people who actually might go see that movie (because I will never watch a horror movie no matter how many ads I get).

Edited this as I feel it was overly disrespectful.

Google has this as a feature already: https://myadcenter.google.com/customize

Two Cows!

Props on Simon and Garfunkel. A staple for me too.

This community can be an “earmark” to voice complaints about things but at least be considerate. Despite your background, your suggestions are going circle around endlessly because you’re missing the point.

There’s all kinds of ad servers on the internet. Some are good, some are bad. Some offer feedback (I’m sure it works wonderfully), others don’t. Spotify happens to be in its infancy with ads. It’s interesting if you’re willing to read.

I’m also glad you provided a link though that makes me more confident I’ve been living outside of a cave for the last 20 years.

At the bottom of this, two cows, is that the community is now a mob of people yelling at moderators about fundamental changes to the global streaming service leader.

How about posting about your favorite S&G album instead? Mine happens to be their debut- Bleecker Street is one of my favs.

I appreciate that you were more respectful in your most recent reply. I still think that this is a change that would make the experience better. I don't mind ads, but ultimately the purpose of ads is to connect potential buyers with goods and services. More relevant ads, being able to select the type of ads I would like to see, this is something that would benefit all involved parties. I understand that this isn't always possible, but I think it's a valid feature to request here.

That’s understandable. I hope that Spotify can do a better job of communicating with the media and therefore their customers. I am surprised by how opaque all this is.

It makes sense to me and I’ll support it because I actually do think that Spotify has good intentions for society and users. I think they are balancing their vision and the old men in chairs wanting to see profits. With all the good intent, unfortunately capitalism has some sharp edges.

It would be nice if I had an option to tell Spotify not to show me a specific ad again. There's already a feature to say that you don't like an ad but it doesn't prevent that ad from appearing. I haven't been able to listen to my playlists because I have gun violence PTSD and I keep getting ads containing gunshots. I really like Spotify and would like to go back to enjoying my music through it but I can't until this specific ad stops being played for me.
