[Alexa] Multiple Spotify Accounts for Amazon Echo

My wife and I have our own Spotify accounts. On Amazon Echo, you can create your own profile.  It would be great to link your own Spotify account to your own Amazon Echo account.

Thanks!

Hey @rskyles thanks for bringing your idea to the Community. As this idea involves a third party we cannot comment on whether this feature is in progress or not. We're marking it as 'Not Right Now', but if we publicly announce this feature is coming we'll update this idea. Thanks!

"We cannot say anything because of 3rd Party blabla" - we're talking of Amazon and billions of sold Echos last year. This answer is not satisfying at all.

I’ve had to use set one account on my Spotify family plan aside just for my Echo. That account follows all the other accounts in my plan so we can all access our playlists. It’s an admittedly annoying work-around, but it works (unless there are multiple Echoes involved).

I've got some spare in my family account, so I created an account for Alexa. Now I can't figure out how to change my Echo to use that account instead of my own.

But registering Echo with separate Amazon accounts breaks other functionality associated with having all Alexas under the same account eg 'drop-in'. central management. This is NOT a solution.

Thanks for the workarounds here... making an "Alexa" user is a good compromise for now.

My guess is since this a conversation between Amazon and Spotify... it's going to be a long long time before we see any traction here.  Amazon has more incentive to not allow it - to make you want to switch to their music service.

A helpful thing for Spotify to do in the meantime would be to have an option for music played on the Echo to not affect your suggestions.... making the "Alexa" user does the same thing, but uses one family slot.

The thing is, that it is possible ... you can have multiple amazon accounts in one household. Then you can assign a new spotify account to any of these amazon accounts.

The problem is, that spotify does not reliably find these echos then, often only the main account.

I found no easy fix for that, current solution is an additional chromecast audio for my family ...

They really need to fix this. I am already paying for Amazon Music on top
of Spotify, just for the 7 echos in the house - and Spotify will be the
service that gets retired if they don't...

I agree. The services both have their faults and this one is huge.

I switched to family plan specially for this. Now when I listing music in the train my girlfriend is without music. The simples way would be to have a quota of one device per family member and be able to play music in a 'session'. A session would be a combination of a user + device. Instead of only a user.

My family gets into fights on a daily basis over this. Both my kids enjoy listening to music when they go to bed. Here’s how it goes:

Daughter: “Alexa, play bedtime music”

Five minutes later:

Son: “Alexa, play piano music”

Daughter: “Alexa, play bedtime music”

Son (a little louder): “Alexa, Play piano music!”

daughter: “hey! I had it first!! ALEXA, PLAY BEDTIME MUSIC!”

Son: “STOP IT! I’m older!! ALEXA, PLAY PIANO MUSIC!!”

Daughter:” MOOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!”

Wife (To me): “You better figure this **bleep** out.”

Me: “Son, use Pandora. Daughter, use amazon music”

Family **bleep** and annoyed. Exactly how we don’t want to be with our music listening experience.
