Namibia’s pop-culture with regards to original music is growing faster than ever and in need of more development and attention — which is exactly what opening the industry to streaming services would do (currently we have no mainstream services). Some of our top artists have begun to garner international attention and it’s important to nurture this attention and channel it into musical growth which would allow Namibian musical artists to export their art.
Similarly, we do have the growing digital infrastructure to accommodate streaming services, which would connect Namibia's streaming data to international artists and eventually solidify Spotify as the country's main streaming service across all operating systems/devices. Right now Spotify is only available in Namibia for a 30-day period, barring the country from the full Spotify premium package. Seeing as how Spotify does have head offices in South Africa and Namibia does share its borders with SA, would it not be possible to link the rest of the region and Launch Spotify Premium in Namibia - removing the 30-day limit which bars us?
