[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

I would totally understand the pushing of useless functions if I was using a free service, but I am paying good money for this every month. Please give me agency to choose what I see every day, it is such a simple thing. Please.

The fact that there are 61 pages of comments of paying users requesting this change and Spotify is just blatantly ignoring us... This is an INCREDIBLE idea because no one HAS to change their home screen but they would have the option to customize it. Spotify only probably loses ad revenue for this and they're choosing to side with money over the people who are making the app a thing in the first place. I greatly support this idea, along with everyone else in these 61 pages.

I was directed here by moderator to cast my vote for this, after my home page stuck and Good Morning / Good Afternoon section is frozen with the same content for months.

The answer was basically "keep listening, it will eventually update" was not acceptable (to be polite).

And now I discover that this idea is an old one, asked by many paid (premium) customers, and Spotify ignore it all the way.

It's a shame. After more than 5.500 votes and hundreds of comments it is still ignored. 😞

It drives me bananas that I cannot control this.

I’ve never once clicked on a single podcast recommendation or even listened to a podcast on Spotify for that matter, so why did they update the app to include lengthy show descriptions that take up a large portion of the screen? It’s blatant how far down their paying users’ throats they’re willing to shove podcasts for a buck. I don’t even have to pay for my Premium and this is seriously making me consider switching to Apple.

But if Adele wants the shuffle option removed from her albums, then Spotify implements that within a week...

YO @phantomwizard you're a flipping genius. Works like a charm! ❤️

Thanks for nothing, Spotify.

Screw this. Spotify started proposing podcasts, which are contrary to my worldview and actually vulgar.

This method works on Windows, however do at your own risk. But if something goes wrong, simply uninstall Spotify and then install it again.

- Install non-store version of Spotify

- Head to C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\Apps

- Backup file xpui.spa (if something goes wrong, simply restore it)

- Use like 7-zip to uncompress xpui.spa (this is a Zip file with changed extension)

- Open xpui.js file with like Notepad++ or Visual Studio Code

- Find strings ",show" and ",episode", you should find something like:

types:"album,playlist,artist,show,station,episode"

Remove "show" and "episode" from all found lists. Now the list should look like:

types:"album,playlist,artist,station"

There are exactly two places, where you should remove those. Keep in mind though, that this is Javascript (a programming language), so make sure, that you leave the list in sane format (eg. no missing commas, no extra commas, with quotes intact etc).

- Compress files again (remember: compress only files, not the folder containing them!)

- Rename to xpui.spa

- Replace original file with the changed one.

Poof. Podcasts are gone from the main page.
