[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

Car Thing being discontinued is very disappointing. The best thing about it was the presets.

Please consider adding a dedicated place on Home in the Spotify app for user-controlled presets. I would suggest the top of the home page having “+” symbol for up to four presets. After a preset is added, an album, playlist, audio book, virtual DJ, or podcast could play with one touch to streamline user experience, add user customizability, and limit clicks.

I know you guys are supposed to push new content for creators to make more $$$ but I am sick of seeing podcasts that I don’t care about and other stuff that I’m not interested in on my home screen. I’ll use the algorithm stuff if it’s not forced on me but it’s clogging up the page where stuff I actually want to listen to should be.

Please! I am tired of seeing podcasts I have ZERO interest in listening to, I used to listen to H3H3 podcast YEARS ago and a Warhammer show once, but I haven't listened to any since. I click on the "Music" tab and get a full 2 rows of music I don't even listen to or a mix from an artist what hasn't been in my rotation for 2 years. It is so frustrating logging in getting started on work and having to scroll through podcasts and shows and audiobooks when I don't even use them, you guys slowly have been recommending music that I do listen to less and less over the years as well, so as a daily listener, having either the (same) mixes with all the songs I already have in my favorites or in a playlist. I want new music, I know there's more than the 20 songs I see over the same 3 mixes because EDM is an all encompassing genre, only give me the HITS, nothing niche or actually NEW. OR I see completely irrelevant mixes PLUS podcasts, which make this app so frustrating (on my phone and my desktop).

We just want to customize our homepages based off what we want to listen to, we're paying you for that, right? Just add a "Hide all podcasts" button. I wouldn't even be bothered by anything else!

I've had my account since 2016, originally free and started paying in 2018, I've had premium since and now have a duo plan and I used to have the car play, but that thing broke after 2 months and then discontinued... what is even happening with Spotify now… I have my own music on your platform!! Albeit 4-5 monthly listeners, but how would I even get filtered into playlists if you feel people the SAME music, and only HITS!! Wild, wild, WILD!

At this point, I would rather start back up my YouTube music plan.

As another user posted here, "I am sick of seeing podcasts that I don’t care about and other stuff that I’m not interested in on my home screen." I think most of the 14 THOUSAND people who voted on this topic can agree. It's honestly ridiculous to think this is not a high priority issue when I feel most other applications have a better user interface and a better breakdown from this "algorithm" to play actual music.

It's just Wild to me, Spotify thinks I would rather listen to Joe Rogan every day than the hundreds of other artists I would rather listen to, but I don't get the recommendations because of this "for you" pre-curated homepage.

The fact that this Idea was REPOSTED, and with the amount of recent comments on this post from 2018 should be telling enough. We've been waiting for years, hoping for some change to come out of it, so thank you, Spotify, for simply making it harder to enjoy your app that we pay for 🙂

Everyone remember when the Discover tab was easy to find and you could click on it and find new artists that are similar to the ones you follow? Now everytime I look for it, I forget how to find it, it takes me like 15-20 minutes of Google searches with no answers, and then I stumble upon it by accidentally clicking on the search bar. Then I sift through 50 tabs to find the Discover tab, Spotify's best feature, strategically hidden–not because it's in alphabetical order, or order of your listening habits, but because... I mean why??

Dear Spotify,

Can you please make the Discover tab more discoverable?

Sincerely,

An avid user

P.S. I'm trying to add an attachment that quite beautifuly sums up what I'm talking about but it says I must be signed in to add attachments. The only thing is, I am signed in! So fixing that would be nice as well.

So I was listening to some white noise music for concentration and now I’m getting shows you might like “Adolf Hitler: Rise and Downfall” by NOISER. This is absurd and it’s arrogant for Spotify to assume it’s “algorithm” knows best in coming up with suggestions and that user feedback is irrelevant… oh just keep listening to other stuff until it changes… it’s more likely that the algorithm is very limited, flawed even and it would cost a huge amount of money for Spotify to re-engineer.

Please listen to your customers and act.  If GenAI returned these responses, and someone flagged these as in appropriate, the human in the loop would fix it.

not right know with 14000 votes says I don’t care about my customers and it’s my app and I’ll do what I want.

My Question or Issue

Why am I showing Disney favourites on my home page, right at the top. I pay for family so that I don’t get **bleep** like this. There’s not even an option to get rid of it.

Its bad enough with your rubbish sponsored recommendations, that I never follow, but seriously Disney!

I pay for premium, I shouldn’t get adverts!

getting constantly annoyed with this is making me consider jumping something I didn't think I'd ever do 5 years ago.  Half my home screen is trash podcast recommendations

Sean97

First of all, how could you raise your prices during this economy? Secondly, if we are going to have to pay more money, please stop destroying the app. The Home Screen is now difficult to navigate and useless. The “TikTok” style clips for music are not good. There is way too much going on.

My Question or Issue

Hi I am becoming more and more frustrated by my Spotify home page specifically while on Apple carplay. While trying to get to My daily mixses, Song Recommended, Ect. I have to scroll past 11 Recommended Podcast. I have never listened to a podcast nor do I want to. I want it to be removed or at least pushed all the way to the bottom of the home page. Trying to drive and look for my daily mixses or quick playlist options is becoming increasingly dangerous. And not to mention it’s embarrassing when I have podcast recommendations for things like “Call Her daddy” and other things that I would never even want to watch/Listen. Please how do I remove these recommendations option or adjust my preferences for my music to be back at the top.
