[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Incredibly sad that this is still not implemented. Not even any thought given to making it easier for people to manually remove explicit material from playlists, which could be done really simply.  Two examples of lack of functionality which I find inexcusable: (1) no ability to manually seach for or substitute radio edit versions of songs within the mobile apps, and (2), no "explicit" tag is shown on the now/next playlist view on the mobile app, from which you can manually select songs and remove from the current playlist, hence making it incredibly hard to manually remove unwanted explicit songs.

It really does need this idea, when using at work and things it makes it really difficult to find a suitable playlist so end up using the radio which is rubbish.

Just opened up Spotify to see a "Popular Podcast right now" entitled "Guys we F*****d". I do not want my children to view pathetic content like this or listen to profanity thanks. Sort it out Spotify please.

I can't use my service at work anymore until I am sure that I can filter songs with explicit lyrics.  This can't be that difficult to accomplish.

Wow. Well over a year on and no update. Very disappointing. I was amazed to be offered an upgrade to a family membership so my kids can have their own music without the option of controlling what explicit language they hear. Surely this is not a difficult thing to achieve. Spotify clearly just aren't that bothered. I'm off to see what other services offer in regards this issue.

Spotify Staff here. We want to update the followers of this idea to a test that is currently running for iOS users.

If you have Spotify Premium on an iOS device you will have an Explicit Content Filter option. Just go to Settings > Explicit Content for a toggle to enable or disable Explicit Content.

When Explicit Content is disabled, tracks marked as ‘explicit’ appear greyed out and will be skipped over by Spotify. The setting applies only for that individual account and per device. Explicit Content is also enabled by default. For iOS devices we also require face id/touch id/passcode (if enabled) in order to re-enable Explicit Content once it's been turned off.

Please note: Our explicit content metadata is not perfect, as not all songs are marked “explicit” by labels or rights-owners. Consequently this test is unable to guarantee that no explicit content will play even when it is disabled.

If you spot a song that is incorrectly tagged as explicit or needs an explicit tag, please help us by following these steps:

• Click the three dots next to the song
• Click Report Explicit Content
• You’ll then get a message that says ‘Thank you for reporting’.

You can also sign into our metadata crowdsourcing platform Line-In to report a song as Explicit.

Please note this does not mark the content as explicit for the user but only collects data at the moment.

This would be a helpful feature since my niece often uses my account to listen to songs. 🙂
