[All Platforms] Light Mode option

Hi,

The new white text on black design physically hurts my eyes and gives very bad ghosting (i.e. persistent image like those in optical illusions that make you stare at particular color combinations and then look away). I know I'm not the only one with this issue because I've researched it in the past. Without an option to switch back to the old design (White background/black text), I'll need to delete my Spotify account and find another service. Please add an option to switch between the two (because I know many prefer black backgrounds). Myself and a host of others, however, cannot use these color combinations. Please let me know if there is a work-around; it would be much appreciated. It's basically unusable to me in it's current state.

Hey folks,

This idea has been moved to a wrong place in the forum but is now back in its place.

We're keeping the status of Not Right Now as we still don't have any immediate plans to implement this, however, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status if we have any news to share.

Thanks!

Yes please! Bring back the old green-ish design and stars and everything back, a.s.a.p.!

I just updated to the new Spotify and I thought it was just me, but the black background is hurting my eyes, and came here to see if there was an option to change skins. Apparently, I'm not the only one who is complaining that the black is hurting their eyes. Doesn't the developers review this before they actually release the updates? Didn't this bother their eyes as well? I'm really disgusted. I love Spotify, but if they take swift action to correct this, and have an option to change it, then I will discontinue my account with them. I refuse to look at black screen that will further damage my eyesight. Give an option to change skins please!!

Yes, this new white on black ui is really really unpleasant to look at and use. Please provide an alternative theme. It feels like early myspace.

I'm cancelling my subscription as of right now because of how the black UI hurts my eye and I don't plan to use the remaining of my subscription either because it hurts that much.

If this isn't addressed by the end of the week I'm cancelling my subscription. I think it's really something to drag your feet on adressing a serious health and accessibility issue like this. on top of the fact that it's useless having a subscription when I can't even use it. You're either going to work on it or you're not. It's that simple.

I'm really shocked about this decision by Spotify. Most applicaitons, website, etc offers you a choice when they use Dark them, because this is a know issue and it's obvious some people have problem reading on black background. I don't think they address the issue quickly, but I just hope they add the option soon.

I think this whole mess is going to change a lot of users minds of ever using a streaming service again. It really brings into to focus that all the time spent creating playlists and stars, you are not even given any options considerations when unexpected changes like this occur.

What I have read of press blips on it, one of their reasons is that this is their way of "branding" to make it easy to recognize when someone has their laptop up and someone else sees it, they immediately know they are looking at Spotify. Unfortunately it also brands my eyes with eye strain. I guess they don't think many need to look at the screen very long, but if you search for music you'll be looking at it for hours. Maybe other users they like it will begin noticing this eye strain issue as they begin to use the new "dark ages" fits all theme more.

This new skin just does NOT work with laptops at all. the glare bounces so harshly.

Couple things: -When we said we liked dark interface, we meant we liked how the Spotify user interface was dark, not that we would like it darker! This, combined with the new super-skinny fonts, makes it hard to read. I'll stick with my system fonts that already work, thank you. -It feels like I reduced my screen resolution - the fonts are too big and there is way too much blank space and not enough contrast. I cannot emphasize the importance of contrast - it helps us users find what we're looking for and makes things less cluttered, and Spotify isn't the only offender lately - flat design nearly kills contrast. I like border lines, gradients, bold fonts, obvious UI elements (buttons and scrollbars that look like buttons and scrollbars) and alternating colored lines. -The new fonts are too skinny and playful. I like my old system fonts. -The left pane is now very unorganized. These are the main points that I would like to make. I will continue to reinstall the older version every time mine updates, because I will not deal with this new 'flat design' in Spotify. User interfaces lately seem to be less intuitive and more cluttered and confusing.

The new UI just sucks!

What iritates me most is the supersmart move to force us to listen to more songs online. The new "Your music" section has no offline option!!!

Dear Spotify team, if your goal was to shift your clients to the competition, I think you really did a great job with that new black UI. Congrats!
