[All Platforms][Music] HiFi Quality - Lossless Streaming 16bit 44.1khz

I've just started a trial of Qobuz - they offer the standard 320kbps as well as lossless FLAC streaming (and high res downloads if you purchase them) the sound quality is noticeably better and on classical it's just wonderful to get all that resolution through your hi-fi or headphones! The catalogue has a way to go to get to Spotify's level, but they are getting there. The iPad app isn't' too bad (the desktop app is in need of an upgrade but I hear they are putting all their efforts into mobile apps right now).

So - lossless streaming - if Qobuz can do it then so can Spotify, they must have the same source - and obviously if you are asking £20 a month then those record labels and distributors take enough notice to make the high res tracks available for streaming. What this all means is soon, very soon, we will get lossless streaming and closely followed by high res downloads - but if Spotify aren't careful it will be Apple who get there first with an audiophile premium offering, and when they do it will be a much harder market place to make money in!

Hey folks,

We know that HiFi quality audio is important to you. We feel the same, and we’re excited to deliver a Spotify HiFi experience to Premium users in the future. But we don’t have timing details to share yet.

We will of course update you here when we can.

Take care.

It seems like Spotify never review on this dicussion or even consider to offer this kind of offer.

Last update is done on 2017-10-27 and since then no new update for it.

Looks like people is switching to Deezer, Tidal, Amazon Music HD, and soon Google will implement Youtube music.

Spotify, please buck it and offer at least lossless playback, if this is not possible for streaming, then just make it available for offline playback.

I understand that a switch from the current Spotify as it is to LOSSLESS
Spotify is huge, because Spotify probably want to update the full library
to lossless first, before offering it to us, the premium listeners....
However I wouldn't mind if Spotify would just switch to LOSSLESS step by
step, means:
new music MUST be available as LOSSLESS, older music will be updated
continuously (there must be contracts with all the labels who suddenly have
to provide LOSSLESS...)

So Spotify: I don't expect that everything is available in LOSSLESS, but I
want the upcoming track as LOSSLESS. So just jump into this and let it go!

as far as i know, labels/musicians have to send lossless files to spotify. So they already have the catalogue in a high quality.

Means that lossless actually are in their plan. Perhaps their roadmap has hi-fi series but just only when.. 😕

It's not a fact that Spotify has the lossless files already, that is just a
rumour from a reader here.
There are online labels which allow to upload 320kbps mp3, so in case these
files are distributed to Spotify too, Spotify won't have a lossless version
already.
But I don't care about what Spotify already has, I want them to START RIGHT
NOW with enabling the possibility to stream HD in case there is an HD
version.
And as I said many times already, I would pay up to 3 times the price of
the current subscription plan for HD.

Perhaps when Qobuz and Amazon Hd is supported in Sweden, the folks over at HQ will get more interested in Lossless.

Agreed. I want Amazon to link to my chromecast, but is not supported with
iOS. It is only supported by Android. It's a deal breaker for me with
Amazon.

Amazon Music HD is knocking on music streaming doors and it might have already knocked the door down with their high resolution streaming. It might be too late for Spotify to move this feature to "Under Consideration".

"It might be too late for Spotify to move this feature to "Under Consideration"."

Well, it is too late for me including MANY others who have switched to Amazon HD.

Even if Spotify does start offering lossless, they won't beat the lower price of Amazon lossless because Spotify would probably charge $20. And I am all in for Amazon's lower price. Thanks Amazon!

I agree also don't forget Qobuz's Hi Res catalog is the largest in the
world & their sound quality is simply unmatched..
