[All Platforms][Music] HiFi Quality - Lossless Streaming 16bit 44.1khz

I've just started a trial of Qobuz - they offer the standard 320kbps as well as lossless FLAC streaming (and high res downloads if you purchase them) the sound quality is noticeably better and on classical it's just wonderful to get all that resolution through your hi-fi or headphones! The catalogue has a way to go to get to Spotify's level, but they are getting there. The iPad app isn't' too bad (the desktop app is in need of an upgrade but I hear they are putting all their efforts into mobile apps right now).

So - lossless streaming - if Qobuz can do it then so can Spotify, they must have the same source - and obviously if you are asking £20 a month then those record labels and distributors take enough notice to make the high res tracks available for streaming. What this all means is soon, very soon, we will get lossless streaming and closely followed by high res downloads - but if Spotify aren't careful it will be Apple who get there first with an audiophile premium offering, and when they do it will be a much harder market place to make money in!

Hey folks,

We know that HiFi quality audio is important to you. We feel the same, and we’re excited to deliver a Spotify HiFi experience to Premium users in the future. But we don’t have timing details to share yet.

We will of course update you here when we can.

Take care.

Is it getting any closer or not?

So..if they are going to adopt Hifi to the service, it seems that most likely it will cost double price.

This must have been the original plan before other competitors messed up their plans of this price hike.

"Platinum", haha.
HiFi is a STANDARD today. Not a "platinum" option.

I think it proves, if this becomes released with that price, that they originally had the plan to hike the price way up.

And that they didn't even think of answering the competition by offering the Hifi quality to the Premium already. I wonder what will happen to Student Premium, will it also get Hifi quality?

Spotify behaves just like Netflix, offering better quality with even more higher price than their competitors. Besides in the music streaming services, it has gone long way from more exclusive material as nowadays almost all the services do have the same mainstream music catalogue.
This will be interesting to follow and how many will be staying or leaving Spotify..

Screw Spotify for jacking the price up to $20 a month! Even Tidal has Hifi for $10 a month. They're just adding a bunch of bogus worthless options to increase the price to 20 bucks a month.

Spotify is just all bent out of shape because everybody beat them to the punch for Hifi, and this was their original plan to jack the price up to $20, and when Apple came up with Hifi first it beat their plan to gouge everybody!

Screw Spotify, I'm sticking with Qobuz! It will more than likely sound better anyway, and that's my main concern. I don't give a rip about podcasts and all the other garbage they're trying to push.

$20/month is definitely more than I was expecting. But if they also include Family (6 accounts), or at the very least, Duo (2 accounts) for that price, I might actually consider it.

Hi, I've submitted a similar idea, but they refered me to your post and closed mine.

If it can fuel this discussion, please refer to my post here :

Ty and have a nice day!

if you really consider to request 20$ for it be sure many users will leave the premium and go away from Spotify!

HiFI is basic in 2022.

Apple music may need to learn from Spotify about the UI experience but you may need to learn from them about the quality!

The UI on Spotify are terrible, I don’t want to see Apple adopt any of it….!

$20 for Spotify? I can get Amazon HD music for $9 (with podcasts BTW if I wanted them, which I don't). Qobuz has one of the slickest ui's, broad editorial content with the most intelligent data handling, and I can get that for $12.99, with the ability to buy HiRes music. That's something that none of the other streamers support. Everybody's offering better value, HD music, and honestly Spotify's UI looks bloated compared to the competition.

They should do drug testing in the Spotify marketing department because I think somebody is smoking something hallucinogenic. Nothing from that link makes me interested in returning to Spotify for $20. I'd MAYBE come back for $11.95-9.95. Nah!

Absurd!
