[All Platforms][Music] HiFi Quality - Lossless Streaming 16bit 44.1khz

I've just started a trial of Qobuz - they offer the standard 320kbps as well as lossless FLAC streaming (and high res downloads if you purchase them) the sound quality is noticeably better and on classical it's just wonderful to get all that resolution through your hi-fi or headphones! The catalogue has a way to go to get to Spotify's level, but they are getting there. The iPad app isn't' too bad (the desktop app is in need of an upgrade but I hear they are putting all their efforts into mobile apps right now).

So - lossless streaming - if Qobuz can do it then so can Spotify, they must have the same source - and obviously if you are asking £20 a month then those record labels and distributors take enough notice to make the high res tracks available for streaming. What this all means is soon, very soon, we will get lossless streaming and closely followed by high res downloads - but if Spotify aren't careful it will be Apple who get there first with an audiophile premium offering, and when they do it will be a much harder market place to make money in!

Hey folks,

We know that HiFi quality audio is important to you. We feel the same, and we’re excited to deliver a Spotify HiFi experience to Premium users in the future. But we don’t have timing details to share yet.

We will of course update you here when we can.

Take care.

I've since moved the bulk of my listening to Qobuz over the past year due to its far superior quality - and have convinced many of my friends to do the same - but I will admit that Spotify has the superior algorithm for suggestions across all streaming services I've used. I would love to just go back down to one service, and would happily pay more to do so. At this point in time it's just hysterical that Spotify is the lone holdout with lossless. Folks aren't even asking for hires 24 bit files like what Qobuz offers! CD quality is just fine. Every year once or twice there's what I believe to be orchestrated little crumb leaks with no further information just to get people on the edge of their seats about an eminent release only for there never to be anything. It's just ridiculous at this point.

I was wondering : many, many people are waiting /they're eager to subscribe to : Spotify Supremium or Hi-Res. It takes years. Isn't it possible to use less compression with Ogg Vorbis ?

I just waiting more and more and more….

wth are you doing Spotify

robigouk

it's so frustrating.. they keep adding features the the app e.g. new parental controls etc. but not adding the feature that his asked for more than anything on this community.  Honesty... management must just be so thick no wonder it's taken Spotify so long to make money.

Well, they're certainly not using all that cash they save from screwing artists out of streaming royalties to release HiFi or Supremium or whatever the f--- they're calling their vaporware nowadays...

Qobuz pays 5x as much per stream as Spotify ... but Spotify is merely middle of the pack with regard to flagrant disdain for artists.  The lowest-of-the-low title apparently goes to Pandora, according to this article.  https://www.lalal.ai/blog/how-much-streaming-services-pay-artists-in-2024/

It's been more than 2 years, come on..

People...... Just go to tidal. Same price, same content and much better quality.

Spotify have lost the plot, they clearly lied about releasing this and don't care about their customers. I left Spotify 2 years ago and haven't missed it one bit. Just go elsewhere!

Samazar

Really strange to learn that Spotify have not responded in order to provide a timeline for the most requested feature.

Spotify management team - could you kindly respond and give us an idea in regards to this matter. As customers, we will appreciate it.

by the time they have CD quality streaming. I’ll be too old to be able to appreciate it. That’s kind of sad. I mean not just for me too.
