[All Platforms][Music] HiFi Quality - Lossless Streaming 16bit 44.1khz

I've just started a trial of Qobuz - they offer the standard 320kbps as well as lossless FLAC streaming (and high res downloads if you purchase them) the sound quality is noticeably better and on classical it's just wonderful to get all that resolution through your hi-fi or headphones! The catalogue has a way to go to get to Spotify's level, but they are getting there. The iPad app isn't' too bad (the desktop app is in need of an upgrade but I hear they are putting all their efforts into mobile apps right now).

So - lossless streaming - if Qobuz can do it then so can Spotify, they must have the same source - and obviously if you are asking £20 a month then those record labels and distributors take enough notice to make the high res tracks available for streaming. What this all means is soon, very soon, we will get lossless streaming and closely followed by high res downloads - but if Spotify aren't careful it will be Apple who get there first with an audiophile premium offering, and when they do it will be a much harder market place to make money in!

Hey folks,

We know that HiFi quality audio is important to you. We feel the same, and we’re excited to deliver a Spotify HiFi experience to Premium users in the future. But we don’t have timing details to share yet.

We will of course update you here when we can.

Take care.

URGENT MESSAGE TO SPOTIFY:

I'm enjoying Tidal immensely so please feel free to shove Spotify HiFi where the sun don't shine.

END OF MESSSAGE

Absolutely agree with this

What is still strange, we have Spotify client updates regularly. They have a time and staff to update and add new unrequested features, but not the High Res…

Why you are still here? I have stopped pay to Spotify till Hifi will be enabled. I think 20-30% stop to pay will be enough to get High  Res till one Month.

All business understanding money loss very well.

It was just announced that Spotify rates are going up..I see over 20k votes for lossless/ hifi and no updates since 2022. I've basically given up and started a Tidal subscription -- so far so good and I'm liking it... But come on Spotify a little update please?

After long last, I'm finally evaluating other streaming services.

I am a heavy Spotify user, basically have it on most of the day and night. HiFi / Lossless is of huge importance.

Just this week came across a random Instagram post discussing these issues, and in the comments found tons of users saying  that Spotify had just changed their recommendation algorithm to only resurface tracks already existing in libraries rather than surfacing new related songs / artists, which had always been my biggest draw to Spotify. I had sorta noticed this as well now have confirmation.  This prompted me to start a search.

Obv looking to retain as much of my library as possible, 95% of which is EDM. Have lots of curated playlists that I'll need to migrate over too.

Right now my front runner is Quboz, for both the level of sound quality and also the ability to actually purchase Lossless tracks as well. Would be a great way to support all these producers and artists too. Will be starting a trial soon and post findings here.

If anyone else is trying the same would love to hear about your experiences too. I figure if Spotify won't listen to us on this issue we can use this thread to help each other find better solutions together.

@a4darkness

Qobuz is the path I took, and I've been so happy all these years.

Spotify is basically the WORST when it comes to sound quality.

Spotify is basically the WORST when it comes to paying artists relatively fairly.

You mention both of those things are important for you.  Go try out Qobuz and see how much better lossless / high-resolution is.  Also don't overlook their community forums (Qobuz Club) and other features.

If you don't expect Qobuz to match many of Spotify's features around a fancier user-interface, recommendations, audiobooks, podcasts, etc., you'll be going into Qobuz with an open mind for something different.

Introduce High Fidelity (HIFI) audio.

It's been promised for years but has yet to be delivered.

The competition has higher quality audio.
