[All Platforms][Music] HiFi Quality - Lossless Streaming 16bit 44.1khz

I've just started a trial of Qobuz - they offer the standard 320kbps as well as lossless FLAC streaming (and high res downloads if you purchase them) the sound quality is noticeably better and on classical it's just wonderful to get all that resolution through your hi-fi or headphones! The catalogue has a way to go to get to Spotify's level, but they are getting there. The iPad app isn't' too bad (the desktop app is in need of an upgrade but I hear they are putting all their efforts into mobile apps right now).

So - lossless streaming - if Qobuz can do it then so can Spotify, they must have the same source - and obviously if you are asking £20 a month then those record labels and distributors take enough notice to make the high res tracks available for streaming. What this all means is soon, very soon, we will get lossless streaming and closely followed by high res downloads - but if Spotify aren't careful it will be Apple who get there first with an audiophile premium offering, and when they do it will be a much harder market place to make money in!

Hey folks,

We know that HiFi quality audio is important to you. We feel the same, and we’re excited to deliver a Spotify HiFi experience to Premium users in the future. But we don’t have timing details to share yet.

We will of course update you here when we can.

Take care.

Where you can toggle on/off Hi-Res Lossless or toggle on/off Lossless. Like in Apple Music. Instead of just Low-Very High Quality. Can we have this so that we can enjoy the highest quality experience with our audio devices and push the audio quality to its maximum.

  • Other Music apps have awesome clarity of music and when checked Spotify is having low clarity of music . Introduce Losless audio with high kbps to enjoy music.

There has been a significant drop in quality for Premium music over the last two months. Primarily on the streaming side, but it even seems to affect downloaded tracks.

Yes, I have checked all settings in the player. Have recognized this on both mobile and desktop.

I get the need for bandwidth management on a platform of this scale, but, please at least give us the option to pay for full quality. (or give me the option to pay to own the track).

Sincerely,

A huge spotify fan and og from the w.cd/oink days.

🥜Spotify Premium Spatial+ = ULTRA sound quality, better recommendations and more...

💥Add a sound quality tier called "Ultra" that's even better than "Very High". Expectation? Better Spatial Audio, Better perception of sound direction, even richer audio quality. Prioritize auto-playing dolby atmos mixed or spatial audio encoded songs over stereo. Stream should be in higher bit rates. I am willing to pay a higher subscription amount.

Alright Spotify, hear me out — it’s 2025, and we’re still waiting on true high-resolution audio. While TIDAL, Apple Music, and Amazon have already rolled out lossless or Hi-Res options, Spotify has the reach and ecosystem to make it mainstream — and even better.

A new tier (or integrated into Premium) offering Hi-Res / Lossless Audio — up to 24-bit, 192 kHz. Not just “better quality” — we’re talking studio-level clarity, where you feel every breath, chord, and nuance like you’re right there in the booth.

Make Hi-Res Work on All Devices

Here’s the challenge: not everyone owns audiophile gear,  but that shouldn’t be a barrier.

Solution: Spotify Hi-Fi+ Smart Engine

Imagine a built-in feature that:

  • Auto-detects your device’s capabilities and adapts streaming quality accordingly.
  • Offers tips and settings to get the most out of your phone, laptop, or headphones like enabling external DACs or using certain Bluetooth codecs (aptX, LDAC).
  • Partners with major audio brands to certify “Spotify Hi-Fi Ready” devices.
  • Offers a desktop Hi-Fi Mode, where users can manually adjust bit depth and sample rate if their system supports it.

That way, everyone benefits, from casual listeners to gearheads and no one feels left behind.

  1. It is really about time that Spotify gets a high-quality audio feature.

Hi, audio quality is important for me.Spotify is one of the last streaming platforms that doesn't offer high resolution audio. I have a pretty big HiFi setup, the difference between 16bits audio and 24bits is day and night. And I'm pretty sure im not the only one.
