[All Platforms] Option to have a true shuffle

So I’ve been noticing more and more recently that Spotify’s default shuffle feature doesn’t fully shuffle your songs. It does some sort of grouping to try to get similar songs together based off of what I’m sure is dozens of factors. Every time I shuffle a playlist (the one I noticed this with the most is ~100 songs and 6 hours of mostly full albums) it will group the songs mostly or completely together by album/artist, and given the number of times I’ve re-shuffled and checked the order there’s no way it’s just a coincidence. They also generally seem to be in the same order as well. If I hit shuffle play on a playlist it’ll generally put the same artists at the beginning every time.

With larger playlists of albums I am really not a fan of this shuffling method. If I have 6 hours of music on a playlist I will hardly ever have 6 hours to actually listen through the whole thing, but when I do listen to it I would like to hear all of the music on it equally, and not just the artist or two your algorithm likes to shuffle to first.

Anyways, I’m a reasonable man, all I’m asking for is an option to have a true shuffle (take all songs in the list, put them in a random order, and once they’re all played reshuffle them and play them again). Make it premium only if you want. I don’t think you should scrap the current shuffle algorithm because it sucks. Looking at some of the suggestions on here it seems like some people lobbied hard to have it that way. Just add an option for a true shuffle for those of us that don’t care about potentially getting the same song twice in a row.

2023 and still no update? Or am i missing something? Because "shuffle" as annoyingly repetitive as it was when this idea was created 3 years ago...

So driving down the M5 in the UK, playlist with 2h 36m worth of songs, and within 1h 15m a song had been repeated!

Someone needs to get a grip at Spotify.

I pay for this service, and they are not delivering a satisfactory customer experience.

Clearly Spotify has no interest in providing us with a true shuffle for some reason. What a simple and obvious feature every music service should have. They, like all tech companies these days want to force whatever content they want on the user and do everything they can to keep us from listening how we choose.

My Question or Issue

Smart shuffle and shuffle issues has ruined my experience with Spotify. I didn't use SS at first, but when I tried it, I really enjoyed it until this started happening. It plays the same songs over and over, and I can't disable it. I will turn shuffle completely off, yet it still adds the same songs with the little sparkles saying it is from SS. After that started happening, my shuffle also broke. Instead of shuffling my playlists, no matter what song I click on first or how many times I click off of shuffle and back on, it plays the same sequence. Every day. It is getting very annoying, and I don't know what to do. The app is up to date.

This is still a problem!!

It's been over 10 years and they still haven't fixed it.

Create a random shuffle option. It really can't be that hard.

This has ruined the app for me as I hardly hear 90 percent of my songs.

I haven't been using "shuffle" anymore, with few exceptions. I tried "enhanced playlists", which are sometimes inspiring but mostly worse than before and unrelated to the original, quite simple, feature request.

Come on Spotify, don't become the next Twitter.

You know we're still here and haven't left yet, but the time will come.

My Question or Issue

In a playlist that is all songs from one artist, around 20 - 25 of them, it only plays around 10 from one album. I don't get why, if I wanted to play those songs, I would obviously just play the album itself!

Androidbuck

Is this still something being looked into?  I have same issue of constantly hearing the same songs from my playlist.  I like to just play from my *liked songs* playlist but somehow even with over 1000 songs o heart the same stuff over and over again. Especially in a single day or two or will seem to play from the same group of songs so I will regularly hear the same artist and songs over and over again despite hundreds of songs I almost never hear.
