[All Platforms] Option to have a true shuffle

So I’ve been noticing more and more recently that Spotify’s default shuffle feature doesn’t fully shuffle your songs. It does some sort of grouping to try to get similar songs together based off of what I’m sure is dozens of factors. Every time I shuffle a playlist (the one I noticed this with the most is ~100 songs and 6 hours of mostly full albums) it will group the songs mostly or completely together by album/artist, and given the number of times I’ve re-shuffled and checked the order there’s no way it’s just a coincidence. They also generally seem to be in the same order as well. If I hit shuffle play on a playlist it’ll generally put the same artists at the beginning every time.

With larger playlists of albums I am really not a fan of this shuffling method. If I have 6 hours of music on a playlist I will hardly ever have 6 hours to actually listen through the whole thing, but when I do listen to it I would like to hear all of the music on it equally, and not just the artist or two your algorithm likes to shuffle to first.

Anyways, I’m a reasonable man, all I’m asking for is an option to have a true shuffle (take all songs in the list, put them in a random order, and once they’re all played reshuffle them and play them again). Make it premium only if you want. I don’t think you should scrap the current shuffle algorithm because it sucks. Looking at some of the suggestions on here it seems like some people lobbied hard to have it that way. Just add an option for a true shuffle for those of us that don’t care about potentially getting the same song twice in a row.

How hasn't this been fixed yet like I just woke up irrationally mad cause I can't even go for a jog without stopping to skip a song Spotify just played for me like 10 minutes earlier the **bleep**!

Spotify DJ be like:

"...and that was Wonderwall, now here's Hootie and the Blowfish -

🎵🎶

 '"only wanna be with you'"

🎶 🎵

Woo ya that was great, you're listening to Spotify radio - stick around for some Oasis next then more Hootie and the Blowfish"

I left Spotify because I started hating songs that I previously loved, they were repeated that much.

I don't believe that they'll ever fix this. They haven't in over 4 years, they gave a canned nothing response saying that they hadn't done anything. Why they keep this as a live (very dead in reality) idea is anyone's guess. My guess is that it makes them look like they are doing something, when they are not.

I miss certain Spotify features, but I can play a playlist on shuffle without repeats and I'm not giving my money to a company that so blatantly ignores their customers.

This has gotten so bad lately that I get the same 10 songs over and over of the same artist(s) over and over. Sometimes it’s the same 4 songs and I have to close the app and restart or listen to another playlist. Freakin garbage app. Now I have to move my entire family account somewhere else. Do they fire all the programmers over there?

Hi guys, it felt so good to discover that conversation and doesn't feel alone with this anymore. Anyway, after reading some of your coments i guess i will follow the easiest solution witch is leave the platform... this is really sad considering how that real shuffle request seams to be reasonable legitimate and doable.

All the best for your (not shuffled) music life !

If someone told you they owned the biggest and most beloved chain of pizza restaurants, but none of their restaurants knew how to make a simple salami pizza, you'd find that weird, right? Well, here's Spotify, telling us we can "shuffle" by giving us a button that literally says so. But oh wait, it's not actually a shuffle, it's just another playlist they created for you with their oh-so-powerful algorithm. You don't need to know that though, they just do it on the down-low in the background because the simple truth is: Spotify knows better than you what you actually want when you click a button that says "shuffle" on it, you silly little user.

How this is still not changed after years of people complaining shows these guys either don't know how to do it or they don't give a **bleep** since like I said, they think they know better than us what shuffle means.

That's some amateur-level stuff there, Spotify, get it together.

Or you'd just go to a different Pizza restaurant...

The easy fix to this is to change provider

Please fix the shuffle, it's so annoying, the shuffle is exactly the same everytime a launch it and the same song come back 3-4 Times an hour and the playlist is over 20h lenght.

Add my dissatisfaction with the shuffle system. If the Spotify team needs help programming a better shuffle system, I may be able to help.
Seriously, the shuffling is garbage.

I've been losing my hope with Spotify for over a year now. They keep increasing the price and limiting what we can do, but not fixing the existing issues. I'm pretty sure if users choose to "shuffle" a playlist it means exactly that and not "shuffle the dozen of songs Spotify chooses (over and over again( out of a playlist with a thousand". Frustrating.
