[All Platforms][Other] 2-Factor Authentication

Spotify should, as a matter of good practice and safety, implement 2-step authentication.

Previously, Spotify enabled the option to log out other sessions other than the current session.

This would prevent hackers from stealing accounts, which would additionaly lead to less account hacks and less work for Spotify employees to assist in these cases.

Hi everyone, thanks for bringing us your feedback in the Spotify Idea Exchange. We’re ready to mark this idea as ‘Under Consideration’.

We are currently investigating various solutions for account security for our users, e.g. 2-factor authentication. Any news regarding user-facing security updates will be posted to this thread as a status change.

If you'd like further information about protecting your account please visit our Support Site here.

Not to mention that you don't even get to know if someone did make changes on your account if they get in. For exaple what discord  or facebook account you have connected to your accout.

Hey Spotify!

I've been a loyal customer for many years, but the way that you've been dragging your heels on this has me considering your competition... Don't leave us waiting for an update for 5 years after marking it "Under Consideration"

I'm having random account access from other countries even with a secure random generated password.

Please activate Google Auth, or at least give some option to create a country blacklist ip or something.

I'm paying Spotify every month, and even free services got better security.

IMPLEMENT-2FA

At this rate, a nuclear war will probably start first before consideration is done for multi-factor authentication for your paying customers.

And that's why I'm probably gonna be cancelling my Spotify account today.
Good luck y'all, I'll be back if there's some sort of 2FA implemented.

Crazy to see Spotify charge premium members an additional $1 each month after this August when 2FA is still not implemented after 8 1/2 years of requests by its members. Makes you wonder what the developers do all day long.

So the news… in iOS 17 Crossfade will be an option for Apple Music. There’sthe reason to switch. Yet, I think Spotify does a more excellent job is self-curated tracks for different genres & subjects.

I'm at the crossroads. SO if Spotify raises my cost even NEAR $18 that’s when I’ll go to the other side because for $22 they offer three other services including Music, all as Family account.  Heck I may even go all out and get the full One subscription.

any thoughts…?

Added security measure that follows industry standards to reduce hacking of accounts and limit security breaches. It's the first time I've had my account hacked with Spotify, but it brought up the fact that there is very little security to guard against someone hacking your account.

No, I hate this idea.  Please don't do it, it is annoying and I would discontinue my premium if I have to supply my phone number and receive a text every time I log in.

@the_coolest_guy it's with Google account the same. You only have to use that 2step when you log in on a new device. The last time i needed to verificate my google account was 3 years ago. It's just a one time safety so you don't have to put hours work in it to retrieve your account back where you paid for. With risk of getting your bankaccount information and adres leaked.
