[All Platforms][Other] 2-Factor Authentication

Spotify should, as a matter of good practice and safety, implement 2-step authentication.

Previously, Spotify enabled the option to log out other sessions other than the current session.

This would prevent hackers from stealing accounts, which would additionaly lead to less account hacks and less work for Spotify employees to assist in these cases.

Hi everyone, thanks for bringing us your feedback in the Spotify Idea Exchange. We’re ready to mark this idea as ‘Under Consideration’.

We are currently investigating various solutions for account security for our users, e.g. 2-factor authentication. Any news regarding user-facing security updates will be posted to this thread as a status change.

My wife's account has now been accessed by a third party twice in one day. Once from Brazil and once from the United States, according to the e-mail. But there are still only 6 months to go until we can celebrate 10 years of 2FA Live idea.

PS: I just earned another badge for being in the Spotify community for 5 years. And I'll give you three guesses why I signed up here 😉

It's 2024... why does a platform as large as Spotify not have 2FA support for users? Apparently they support it for artists already:

This is pretty ridiculous tbh.

10 years with zero solutions, I think it's time to explore other music services.

Ridiculous.

Might as well also comment that this is particularly atrocious in 2024

The fact that a service as large and renowned as Spotify doesn't have even the most basic form of MFA, being a code sent via email or SMS, is unacceptable and nothing short of insulting. It's 2024, get your act together Spotify. MFA should have been implemented 9 years ago when it was first brought to attention.

Activate 2-step verification also for casual users and not just for spotify artists.

I don't think there is any security feature i can enable that would send me a code on my email or phone number code that i can use to login or confirm it's me logging in, I had United States login to my account 2 times recently and apart from the option to connect external apps or account's (Facebook, etc there isn't any 2FA authenticator QR code to setup).

Hello and greetings from 2024!!

Throwing my comments out there that echo sooooo many others (*hint,  hint!!!*) but 2FA should be ubiquitous (and also not need Facebook integration to be a thing).

I just had a login attempt from someone i dont know where, and i am really worried, i just changed my password and made it really big, but still dont know why i just received a code via SMS (which is extremely unsafe and open to man in the middle attacks) about a loggin attempt on spotify. PLEASE ENABLE TWO FACTOR AUTHENTICATION NOW, and also GIVE USE LOSSLESS MUSIC NOW, thanks! 🙂
