[All Platforms][Other] 2-Factor Authentication

Spotify should, as a matter of good practice and safety, implement 2-step authentication.

Previously, Spotify enabled the option to log out other sessions other than the current session.

This would prevent hackers from stealing accounts, which would additionaly lead to less account hacks and less work for Spotify employees to assist in these cases.

Hi everyone, thanks for bringing us your feedback in the Spotify Idea Exchange. We’re ready to mark this idea as ‘Under Consideration’.

We are currently investigating various solutions for account security for our users, e.g. 2-factor authentication. Any news regarding user-facing security updates will be posted to this thread as a status change.

log in to spotify desktop or apple tv or android tv apps with a QR code capture in ios/android mobile phone using a logged in spotify mobile app.

logging in an unknown new device may trigger an auto password reset and logging out of all devices. using a known device to authenticate a new log in would be useful. when using apple tv 4k spotify app, one is prompted to log in in a browser in the "spotify.com/pair" page. if the user could scan a QR code that would link to the spotify app in the mobile phone, if the user is already logged in the mobile phone, then the user could easily authenticate the pairing (logging in) from the phone. this would ensure quick and easy and smooth user experience of logging in to apple tv and similar products.

6 years later and still nothing.....

Hello, I want to reiterate the idea that the platform provides two-step security verification for greater security of our accounts, since without this option we are more vulnerable to attacks and our accounts are hacked, it is active for artists but it should also be. . active for us users because many of us pay for it and in the blink of an eye our information can be stolen, I hope you take this idea into account

HOW HAS THIS BEEN UNDER CONSIDERATION SINCE 2018!?

79 pages of posts laster and nothing's been actioned...

You're one of the biggest music providers in the world, yet can't provide the most basic functionality.

The spotify teams seriously needs to work on getting a 2FA or some type of extra security authentication. Its too easy for hackers to get into peoples accounts and take advantage. This has been going on too long and its time Spotify created a solution. If not I will have to swtich platforms and I really wouldn't like to sift through and transfer thousands of songs

I was thinking of being able to add an authenticator app as an extra level of protection, as I don't want my Spotify account to get hacked.

I feel I should note that the lack of 2FA is why I stopped using Spotify in favor of Youtube Music, and I encourage you all to do the same, as Spotify clearly does not care about account security.

In the last 3 months I have been asked to reset my password at least 7 times.  This is very frustrating.  I have always kept my Spotify password separate from any other passwords.  I inquired with support and they confirmed that there had been no suspicious activity on any of my devices, but could not provide an explanation for the repeated password reset notifications.

I then suggested what about secondary authentification software and whether Spotify had any plans to add this feature to the app.  Many companies that require passwords for signins are moving to this feature to avoid password issues.

I think it is a great idea.  Sure it takes a bit longer to sign in, but it certainly would cut down on the need to reset and then remember the lastest password.

Thoughts anyone?
