[All Platforms][Other] Romanized Lyrics for Songs Not In Latin Alphabet

Recently, Spotify (at least in my iOS app) has added a very helpful feature which is lyrics. It finally collaborated with Musixmatch (thanks God why haven't you done this sooner).

Problem is, I am an Indonesian listener who is familiar with Latin alphabet. I loved many Asian songs, which we know, are not written in language using those Latin alphabets, namely K-Pop, J-Pop, or you name it. Those songs' lyrics are still shown in their original alphabet (K-Pop in hangeul, J-Pop in kanji and hiragana, etc). Usually, foreign listeners are able to sing-a-long by looking at the romanization version.

Now I know that Musixmatch indeed does not have that romanization lyrics, but Genius does and I know Spotify has partnership too with Genius, I guess? So, why not give a choice for listeners to choose between Genius or Musixmatch?

TL;DR:

1. We want romanized lyrics to Asian songs or any songs not using Latin alphabet

2. Give options for Spotify listeners to choose which version to show

3. If Spotify can no longer show Genius' service, push Musixmatch so that they make romanized lyrics available.

Just watched WWDC yesterday and App** Music added lyric pronounciation.. and yet this idea is just sitting here with no news?

A comment below notified me that Musixmatch has provided options for translations and indeed they are now shown in Spotity. I see this as a nice improvement! However, what we wanted is a romanized version of the original language so we can do sing-along 😞 Please make this happen!

Been wanting this forever. Hoping they add it since apple has just added romanised lyrics and I think people will just switch over to apple music if Spotify doesn't add it soon.

Yes please. I am listening and trying to sing along to Southern All Star and Takao Kisugo songs but the lyrics  not readable for me. Please Spotify!

can we also have pinyin for Chinese songs so that people can write maybe with English subtitles

Please add support for custom lyrics on Spotify, so we can upload any lyrics we want. Since the platform doesn’t provide romanized or translated lyrics, having this freedom would be amazing. Apple Music already offers this, and for me (and many others) it’s a critical feature. Having both options would be perfect, though I realize that might not be possible. Now that Spotify Lossless has arrived, this is basically the only thing missing for the platform to feel almost perfect. It would also be great to have theme customization with different color options. If Spotify added these features — like Apple Music already has — the experience would be flawless.

Able to change from original language to Romaji and translated lyrics of non english song from lyrics column itself.

We want this, we need this. It such a great feature to have and it helps out a lot for people who want to be able to sing along but also to understand what they actually sing about. So Romanized lyrics + translation would be the best to have.

I want to suggest adding better support for romanized lyrics for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean songs on Spotify.

Many songs from these languages have great lyrics, but not all listeners can read Chinese characters, Japanese, or Korean. With romanized lyrics (like pinyin for Chinese, romaji for Japanese, and romanization for Korean), people who don't know the language can still follow the lyrics and sing along.

This would be very helpful for users who enjoy these songs, want to learn the pronunciation, or simply want to sing along while listening. Romanized lyrics would make Asian music more accessible for international listeners and improve the overall experience

When I'm trying to sing my favorite kpop songs, I've come across a problem; I don't knows lyrics. I pull up the lyrics and I see characters. Now, I don't know about you but I can't read Hangul. I'm suggesting that Spotify adds the option to have the romanized lyrics.
