[All Platforms] Parental Controls

I love this service. My wife and I are both premium subscribers. I really hate being tied down to an archaic service like iTunes, but for my kids, I really have no choice. I would happily pay for more premium subscriptions for my kids to have their own Spotify accounts if there was a way I could make sure explicit songs are blocked. I dont care if this is a free feature, I am happy to pay for it. Until it exists or my kids get a lot older, its money you are leaving on the table Spotify. I have to think I am not the only parent who would be happy to pay for this. Seems easy enough to implement, so why not make it another reason to go premium?

Please let the community know if this also covers explicit album art too!

“At a time where parents are trying to reduce screen time for both
themselves and their family, we’re creating more ways for families to bond
over music together, while still celebrating individual tastes and giving
parents more control if they want it," Spotify's chief premium business
officer Alex Norstrom said in a press release

So, Alex is helping them turn a profit, but the key phrase here says a lot
— “if they want it”. He’s failed in his role for me.

Yes. We want it. We’ve wanted it for a long time. The process to request
this feature is years old and it’s been neglected. The Spotify dev model
is touted as one of the best, but this barely cuts it for a feature and
took years to deliver. I’ve moved on like many who’ve abandoned this
service for Apple Music. They got it right first time. Me and my kids
have shared playlist that are safe and fun we build together for road trips
and commuting.

Too little. Too late.

Keep in mind this doesn't block pornography on album covers.

Wow!! Spotify Premium finally added support to filter explicit content per family member! This is a fantastic update!

I have toggled the "Allow explicit content" for several of my kids and look forward to seeing how it works for them.

THANK YOU!!

On a parental level or within each account? They've always had the filter
but any kid can just uncheck it at will.

Well, it looks like a new feature to allow the Premium Family owner to
specify which members can see explicit content, but I could be wrong. See

From their most recent email to Family Premium members touting new features:

"Take (parental) control.
As the plan owner, you can control whether your family can listen to explicit content - just toggle on the Explicit Content Filter to keep eyes and ears protected from tracks flagged explicit. Unsuitable content will now appear greyed out. That's one less thing thing for you to lose sleep over... aaaaand breathe."

I haven't tried signing in yet as one of my kids to see if they can untoggle it within their own settings. I hadn't seen this setting before in the Premium Family settings section.
