[All Platforms][Playlists] Upload GIFs as Playlist Covers

I think it would be really great if Spotify could allow GIFs to be uploaded as Spotify Playlist Covers - it would add a nice touch of personality to each playlist and make it pop even more! I really like the animated covers of some Spotify Playlists and it would be really cool if we could do something similar with our playlists

This idea has been submitted a few times before but I genuinely love the idea and think it deserves another shot at voting and I hope it gets enough votes this time! 🙂

Hey everyone,

It seems that this idea ended up in the wrong board accidentally, so we're bringing it back.

We're keeping the previous Not Right Now status, as we don't have any immediate plans to implement this. As soon as we have any new information to share, rest assured we'll check back in here.

Take care.

My idea is to add Album cover Gifs like Apple music so that it can add life (and maybe attract more people) to the site

How you would see it:

[IN DESKTOP MODE]

If its in the Library when your mouse hovers over the album the GIF starts playing

If its selected the Album GIF will play on the Album page

[IN MOBILE AND APP MODE]

If selected the Album GIF will play

you can Add gifs as playlist covers (hopefully for desktop as well)

[SPOTIFY FOR ARTISTS PERKS]

You can edit your album on spot if y to have a GIF or let AI generate one based off either a image (the album image) or a video (usually a animated video of your cover art.

You can include Gifs for different versions of albums (for example a cleaned version can have the album cover with a parental advisory tag be wiped away with a sponge and vice versa)

[WAY TO TURN IT ON OR OFF]

Go into settings and click/ press 'Album Art' and Turn Album GIFs OFF/ON.

Thank you for your service, Latbiu Hookt

The current playlist image customization is a little too primitive, as such I think that adding the option to upload SVGZs, APNGs (Animated PNG) and or GIFs would be a huge leap in customization from the normal boring static cover art that we already have. I think that it would be even more viable to keep it animated when the user is in the playlist page and static in the homepage or the sidebar, maybe even add culling so that when Spotify is minimized the animated images become static until opened once more.
