I came up with this idea quite recently – why don’t Spotify figure out a podcast with legends of the 1980s? There were incredible amounts of great bands (e.g. Level 42, Tears for Fears, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran or Pet Shop Boys), as well as solo artists (e.g. Bruce Springsteen, Peter Gabriel, Sting and many others). I am sure that these guys can share some fantastic stories either about their careers or some of their songs. Maybe they would be willing to sing few of them, just like Tears for Fears did in Spotify Landmark in 2014. For sure the whole idea can be expanded in various ways, but that would be a task for Spotify.
Such thing would for sure be popular among listeners – just look at numbers of followers of each playlist from section “Music from the decades”:
All Out 50s – 1.1M followers
All Out 60s – 1.9M followers
All Out 70s – 3.6M followers
All Out 80s – 7.0M followers
All Out 90s – 5.6M followers
The only one playlist which has more followers is the “All Out 00s” with 8.1M followers. There must be something in the music of 1980s.
