[All Platforms][Podcasts] Option to disable or hide podcasts entirely

I don't listen to podcasts and don't intend to. But it currently takes up valuable space in both the Spotify mobile app and also in Android Auto. It's annoying having to see podcasts all the time when I don't care for them and don't want to see them.

Is it not reasonable to just have a toggle to show podcasts or not?

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Idea Exchange and for bringing us your continual feedback. We also think this is a great idea and that there's an opportunity to make it happen, so we're looking into it further.

We'll post here when we have an update - Stay tuned!

Some podcasts are inappropriate. I gave my 12 to her own account on our family plan and blocked explicit music only to find she still has access to adult content podcast with adult themes and very explicit content. She is too old for Spotify kids. Please please fix this so we can disable podcasts!!!! This is not a acceptable.

I left Spotify for Apple music last year because I couldn't turn off podcasts on the family plan. I've been very happy with the switch. I recommend other parents do the same. (We have android phones and the parental controls are built into the app with a password (pin), you can turn off videos and explicit music and there are no podcasts.)

There are other options! If you don't like what Spotify is doing, don't give them your money.

As a paying customer for many years, with a family subscription, I want to express the importance of this matter for our family as well.

As a parent of a child, that is too old for Spotify Kids but obviously too young for all the podcast content on the platform, I am not having any possibilities to mitigate this issue. Please create a real solution to deal with this. Canceling the service should not be the only way to go for affected parents due to the unwillingness of Spotify to implement a working solution for this.

PLEASE Spotify, you should realize how important this is for all parents, that care about the media their children are having access to.

Best regards,

Christian from Germany

Should definitely be able to block content that we don't want to see.  Getting so much 'armchair expert' spam on my home screen I'm getting ready to give apple music another shot..

The probability of this happening is like getting world peace… This is literally their main money drive right now... Keep dreaming

I agree.  However, here is my hope

If only a tiny percentage of subscribers want to control the auto suggestions, that should not impact their revenue by allowing this feature because the vast majority will not care.

If the vast majority does end up using the feature we are requesting, then Spotify should seriously rethink their business model.  E.g. I pay for premium youtube because I cannot stand the annoying ads.  Same with Spotify ...

I have a carefully curated list of podcasts for my daily commute.  But everytime one podcast ends or I exit the Spotify app, my home screen lights up with their pushed content.  I used to like Joe Rogan, but I am getting tired of looking at his face to say the least.

Almost all the podcasts I listen to can be found elsewhere.  I can easily cancel Spotify and find the content I like on my own.

Just make it a feature for Premium users. They’re already getting our money at that point so regardless if we listen to podcasts or not doesn’t matter.

I want a pure music experience. I pay a family account every month and they’re getting $17 from me and I’m not even using all my slots. Just give me the ability to make my Spotify only about music. I never will listen to podcasts or audiobooks there.

I couldn't give two shakes if we can't *turn off* all podcasts TBH, but I
understand it's a serious problem from a parental standpoint- which doesn't
concern me.

What I **really would love** is to hide/ignore **bad** podcasts... to never
ever have to scroll past the crappy podcast that I hated after 30 agonizing
seconds...

I just want music - I hate being talked at and I'm sick of seeing Joe Rogan's stroke-face when I'm trying to find new music

"... stroke-face" Thanks! I was struggling with the appropriate description for that image ... 😂
