[All Platforms][Podcasts] Option to disable or hide podcasts entirely

I don't listen to podcasts and don't intend to. But it currently takes up valuable space in both the Spotify mobile app and also in Android Auto. It's annoying having to see podcasts all the time when I don't care for them and don't want to see them.

Is it not reasonable to just have a toggle to show podcasts or not?

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Idea Exchange and for bringing us your continual feedback. We also think this is a great idea and that there's an opportunity to make it happen, so we're looking into it further.

We'll post here when we have an update - Stay tuned!

I listened to one episode of First Dates and now it’s constantly in my feed; I have plenty of subscribed podcasts and just can’t shake this garbage. I am not subscribed to it.

please add a ‘don’t play this’ button somewhere

This is an important feature to me, I recently got a podcast suggestion for an episode on 'losing a parent to suicide'. This is a personally traumatic topic for me, and having it pushed on me via the suggested podcast "feature" is not cool.

There needs to be a 'filter by content type' toggle, with defaults to filter out self-harm/suicide, sexually explicit, political, etc.

My biggest issue is that I could listen to a podcast 1 time, or even just 3 minutes of it and decide I don't like it, and Spotify will continually put it in my suggestions, and even will auto play it when I finish my other podcasts.  I constantly have to go look for episodes for the podcasts I DO want to listen to, but these other podcasts that I tried out and don't like will continually auto-play and/or show up in my feed.  There's nothing I can do about it, and Spotify seemingly has no interest in modifying any of this behavior.

Yes. Spotify doesn’t get the hint that if I stopped following a podcast or stopped a podcast early or midstream without following it, I think the podcast is garbage and don’t want to listen to it.  So stop pushing it on me!

I could see how Spotify could interpret that situation differently and probably does so for the benefit of the podcasters.  That is why I want a very clear and fully working, no exceptions, “not interested” option. I suspect if Spotify is all about promoting podcasts on its platform to prove they are value added for the podcasters, we won’t get it.  I just wish the customer was first and that being the listeners.

If they could be turned off, this solves a lot of the issues with inappropriate content. The most inappropriate content for teens and tweens using Spotify is coming through podcasts. Lots of trashy stuff, lots of violence, lots of **bleep**, and no metadata to filter it out. I would turn it off for my kids if I could. If not, we’re deleting the app and moving to a different music only app again.

I tried a podcast (Lum & Abner) and didn't like it,  so unfollowed it,  but it still plays after another podcast.  I have tried everything to get it so it didn't play.   Even marked all episodes played.

Talked to customer support and basically was told to find more podcasts I like,  play them and it'll push the one you don't want out of queue.  I don't normally do podcasts, but I have one I do.

I'm considering canceling my Spotify premium.  There are other services I can use for music.   I don't need Spotify.

Here for the music so this has my vote as well. I'd like to completely remove podcasts (any content other than music) from my Spotify experience.

I never listen to Joerogan podcasts I want to remove them for my view forever.

I have a music loving child, too old for Spotify kids.

The “podcasts” recommended on her page are just weird. They have sensational illustrations and titles. Essentially clickbait for tweens & teens. Like those creepy videos on YouTube “kids”

I contacted Spotify, and there is no way to even block a podcast. Their solution is to go through and like podcasts, and do some “fake” play throughs.

Yes, I’ve explicitly told her not to listen to podcasts on Spotify. But the way recommendations are shown, it’s hard to tell them apart from music.

I switched her over to Apple Music.

Please keep off podcasts out of my Spotify homepage. I would rather stop subscribing rather than subject myself to something so unwanted.
