[All Platforms][Podcasts] Option to disable or hide podcasts entirely

I don't listen to podcasts and don't intend to. But it currently takes up valuable space in both the Spotify mobile app and also in Android Auto. It's annoying having to see podcasts all the time when I don't care for them and don't want to see them.

Is it not reasonable to just have a toggle to show podcasts or not?

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Idea Exchange and for bringing us your continual feedback. We also think this is a great idea and that there's an opportunity to make it happen, so we're looking into it further.

We'll post here when we have an update - Stay tuned!

It looks like this has been on people's wishlist for 5 years now; when is Spotify going to deliver to Premium users?

These **bleep**ing podcasts really get on my nerves! I've clicked "not interested" on certain podcasts hundreds of

times but they keep coming back to annoy me further. Why does this feature exist if it doesn't come close to working?

Shize Spotify! Maybe we should all stream music 24/7, even when we're not listening, just to generate license fees for Spotify?

I'd be okay if the podcasts simply weren't the first thing I saw. I don't normally listen to podcasts. So maybe consider putting them at the bottom of the list of things instead defaulting them to the top. Your UX could be better tailored to the user's actual usage. I listen to my music 99.9% of the time so you should show me my playlists first. If I were a user that listened to the daily mixes, then show me that. If I'm hooked on podcasts, show me that.

But the current UX is to shove podcasts up our collective noses because....well, I don't know why. I assume you've got some sort of metric that tells you it's generating more income for you somehow. But it's definitely alienating your music lovers too.

Regardless, your mobile UI is SO awful that it takes 4-6 interactions to get to the audio that I want to hear. Reducing that number would go a long way toward making the experience less cumbersome.

It seems they have listened slightly, I have not had any podcasts shoved in
my face as it was before.
They have created tabs at the top on the mobile app, All, Music, Pods etc,
so an improvement

Yes, now they need these tabs on windows app. But with no tik tok view. Only tiles.

SquidFace
The podcasts are shoved in our faces because they get ad revenue from podcasts. That’s why they don’t implement this idea.

I've got All - Music - Podcasts tab to my Windows app yesterday. Much better now. Tiles only.

Wow. To neglect a basic f***ing feature that a massive amount of PREMIUM users have requested for five whole years? Does Spotify even take any of this into consideration or do they just love taking our money and wiping their a** with it? If there are features to dislike music artists, to have it set so it does not play music by a specific artist, and remove specific songs from your queue, how do we not have the same exact options for podcasts?! I listen to one podcast and one podcast only. I hit another one by accident and now their episodes are loaded up automatically to play after the one I do want to listen to and I can’t f***ing make it stop or remove it from “my shows.”

This is ridiculous.

Do better Spotify.

As a developer, for everyone's reference, this would take minutes to implement. For some reason, they don't want people to have the option to toggle off the Podcasts or thumbs-down them. I have some pretty irrelevant politically-oriented stuff coming up for me, which is not what I come to Spotify for.

I have a 12 year old. Recently I found him using Podcasts on Spotify to essentially watch YouTube videos. And here I thought it was safe to give him Spotify access so he can listen to audiobooks and music. I had no idea this Podcasts feature exists, let alone its rich 5 year history of undermining fellow parents, until I started doing some digging and came across this support post.

Rather than wait a few more years for Spotify to address this issue, I've blocked the CDN host that appears to serve videos: video-akpcw-cdn-spotify-com.akamaized.net. If you're able to control your wifi access point and your child's device doesn't have cell service, it's a quick and easy fix. I hope it helps someone.
