[All Platforms][Podcasts] Option to disable or hide podcasts entirely

I don't listen to podcasts and don't intend to. But it currently takes up valuable space in both the Spotify mobile app and also in Android Auto. It's annoying having to see podcasts all the time when I don't care for them and don't want to see them.

Is it not reasonable to just have a toggle to show podcasts or not?

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Idea Exchange and for bringing us your continual feedback. We also think this is a great idea and that there's an opportunity to make it happen, so we're looking into it further.

We'll post here when we have an update - Stay tuned!

I don't listen to podcasts at the best of times, however, my feed is constantly overrun with podcasts, that I have NEVER wanted. I should be able to disable podcasts altogether, or block the individual podcast in the same way I can select "Never play this artist"

SpottedGuy

It's been over a year. When are you going to give us the feature you promised?

trashgremlin1312

everyone who wants music and pods separately should just switch to apple music at this point since spotify does not care to give their subscribers what they want

So what happened to this idea being looked into?? My child can still access explicit podcasts in the Family plan.

8000+ votes in favour, your approval of the idea of it as well. 5 1/2 year old thread, for a simple on/off switch on a podcast? How complex is your stack, or corp politics, that doesn't allow you to introduce a switch in a months time (or less)?

Spotify have completely failed to fix this or implement ANY sort of family controls this entire time to address the endless stream of low quality podcasts

Explicit podcasts are able to continually present undesirable content straight to my kids unless I either spend all my waking hours policing it, or cancel Spotify entirely

Surely after 6 years and thousands of complaints across multiple threads, this is criminal negligence

I took Spotify off my kid's ipad after finding her watching a video that used horror images combined with her favorite kid-centric media franchise. She listens to Apple Music now.

This is a must have.  Many of us are only here for music and can't stand Rogan and other right wing fascists that are shoved in our faces by Spotify.

dirkblaster

This has been buried in other threads, but if you're tech savvy you can block the video part of these low quality podcasts on your home network either using a service like OpenDNS / NextDNS or AdGuard DNS.

This will still not disable podcasts but hopefully may help a parent stop their kid watching endless TikTok/Reels trash via a Spotify back door

It's wild that people have to do this, but here we are

This is a separate thread basically asking for the same thing here:
https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Add-quot-remove-video-podcast-content-quot-option-to-Spo...

I thought it was negligent that the first thread was being ignored but this one has many more pages and comments. When is Spotify going to at least properly acknowledge this need?

It makes little difference to me now as I've left but it still requires action as so many kids are being exposed to unfiltered cr•p.
