[All Platforms][Podcasts] Option to disable or hide podcasts entirely

I don't listen to podcasts and don't intend to. But it currently takes up valuable space in both the Spotify mobile app and also in Android Auto. It's annoying having to see podcasts all the time when I don't care for them and don't want to see them.

Is it not reasonable to just have a toggle to show podcasts or not?

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Idea Exchange and for bringing us your continual feedback. We also think this is a great idea and that there's an opportunity to make it happen, so we're looking into it further.

We'll post here when we have an update - Stay tuned!

Just tried to like some of the recent comments to show support for this idea and a new feature has been implemented to prevent liking more than 10 posts within 1 minute. Why?

Just wanted to listen to news with daily drive. And what do I get: Daily News podcasts that are days or weeks old and sports, which i am not interessed in and of course no way to say that I don´t want them anymore. The "good" thing is, that I can just skip them the moment they come up, but it still takes away a spot in the daily run for something actually useful.

Just use the daily dry feature for the first time, and received a talkSPORT podcast which is not only not relevant is highly annoying.

I’ve never listened to podcasts on Spotify, I’m not interested in sport.

I’ve previously requested to be able to not have podcasts or any other media in the app.

Why are you pushing this content unless you’re being paid?

I have a younger family member who has explicit content restricted under our family plan, but can still somehow access unsuitable podcasts and materials. By not being able to block the podcast or channel it is impossible to protect younger users, especially when the children’s Spotify app is so poor in comparison and we can block music artists in the main app.

Voting to uplift.

i said everything in the subject line. give me the option to hide shitty podcasts. this is possible everywhere but not with you. i still get it in the stream and i doubt your abilities that this option does not exist. Why do I have to listen to your **bleep**?

While 'podcasts' and 'audiobooks' have their own category buttons next to 'music' and 'all' in the home page, but much like OP, I really wish I could just go into settings and disable both since I never use them. Pretty please Spotify?

hendrikstudio

there are some podcasts i just dont want to listen again but there is no option to hide that content. As long this is not possible, new episodes will disturb me again. Please take this request serious.

I apologise

My child is in between Spotify kids and regular Spotify but we are having issues with Podcasts since there is no way to filter them off once youre on regular Spotify. I would love to see the ability to block podcasts all together. Ideally certain keywords could be blocked to avoid playing from music or pods.

Unfortunately Spotify has gotten thousands of comments like yours and they just don’t care. As long as it is good for them financially (or maybe if press or politicians pick up on this and embarrass them) they will continue doing what they are doing. We all know they could change it in a heart beat if they wanted to. I now pay for Apple Music and have to pay for each and every song my 12 year old wants because I am not going to give him Spotify. And mind you, I pay for songs with all kinds of lyrics. It’s the podcasts on Spotify that are the problem.
