[All Platforms][Podcasts] Option to disable or hide podcasts entirely

I don't listen to podcasts and don't intend to. But it currently takes up valuable space in both the Spotify mobile app and also in Android Auto. It's annoying having to see podcasts all the time when I don't care for them and don't want to see them.

Is it not reasonable to just have a toggle to show podcasts or not?

I think you guys have burned quite a bit of goodwill on this with some of your clientele. Not only has this issue been ignored for 2 years, but the lack of foresight and options with podcasts has now led to 24 angry pages asking for a simple solution of dismissing or hiding unwanted content.

The lack of this feature, on any of your content, has driven some of us to the point where we'll jump ship, as you aren't the only racket in town. Having a podcast getting pushed on you called "C*U*M* TOWN" (I see that the header font style was removed, so I can't replicate it's HUGE INAPPROPRIATENESS here ) is quite rude, uncouth, and appalling on your part. That we can't hide or decline to view content like that, really puts your customers in an uncomfortable spot, and now MY MOTHER (who isn't even a subscriber) thinks you are rude and disgusting and said to me after I explained the situation to her, "I don't understand why you pay for that kind of service."

But aside from you potentially making it difficult to hold discussions with your now Traumatized Nephew who demanded to know what C*U*M* was. Not that I'm a prude, nor do I think the producers of said podcast should have to change its name: you just need to know your f***ing audience, Spotify. And if you can't be bothered to do that, you need to give us tools to self curate.

So, unfortunately, @Mihail, your company now has an angry mob that has been ignored for 2 years, and has that anger for GOOD REASON, and you offer up hollow platitudes about how "it's being looked at". 

But, and I guarantee you this folks, they probably will (eventually) introduce some sort of filter or feature to move/hide the Podcasts from the home screen, but because they'd rather get the money than respect their customers, it'll be gimped or half crippled. And they'll have placated us to the letter of the law (if not completely ignoring the spirit of the law), but it will all be BS.

PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS, SPOTIFY: fix this issue and fix it CORRECTLY. You already missed out on doing it "swiftly", so we'll just hope your conscience drives you to do it "in the near future".

In the meantime @Mihail, I find a mod dropping in and saying "it's being looked at" as disingenous and patronizing. Get an ETA on this and start implementing it in beta ASAP. 

Because you'll lose yet another customer if you don't.

I cancelled my subscription because I was sick of seeing podcasts that were offensive to me without the ability to hide them. I would love to come back to the service for music and plan to do so if we can finally hide podcasts.

I'll cancel my subscription and look for other services. I'm a paying customer and i won't accept having annoying and often downright insulting podcasts pushed in my face! I don't even like podcast! I joined for music, not this **bleep**!

So the only time you actually listen is when it affect subscriptions.

Yeah i don't know why they couldn't split up podcasts to be a separate app altogether, like podcasts and music are COMPLETELY different things, and it seems odd to have them side by side like they are. They have made a completely separate app to listen just to their radio stations, which seems much less needed than doing this.

PS: I have a feeling this isn't the developers' choice. Maybe the management needs to re-evaluate whether they want to take payment for pushing a political agenda.  IMO corporate virtue signaling is a poor business choice unless management thinks the loss of users and user revenue will be more than made up for by the political money they take for pushing that stuff. Change Spotify into yet another political propaganda outlet for fun and profit?
