[All Platforms][Podcasts] Option to disable or hide podcasts entirely

I don't listen to podcasts and don't intend to. But it currently takes up valuable space in both the Spotify mobile app and also in Android Auto. It's annoying having to see podcasts all the time when I don't care for them and don't want to see them.

Is it not reasonable to just have a toggle to show podcasts or not?

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Idea Exchange and for bringing us your continual feedback. We also think this is a great idea and that there's an opportunity to make it happen, so we're looking into it further.

We'll post here when we have an update - Stay tuned!

I suggest everyone to report the app on the app store for child grooming.

I searched for a podcast, started listening to it and then realized that this was not the one I was looking for. Ever since, the wrong one is on my start page! I don't want this, Spotify! Nobody wants this!

You are like a mother that lets the child try food, it doesn't like it and you keep feeding it the food it doesn't like! There is not even an option to hide it, or remove it.

LET US HIDE PODCASTS (even if it would be just particular ones.. but please!)

Is there an update to this?

I‘m not interested to any podcast.

Or, if interested, I‘d like to add it by myself😉

This is a major issue for parents who are trying to keep some control over their kids' device usage. I can't just enable Spotify on my kids' devices as a music player, because they end up watching "video podcasts" endlessly. We will likely cancel our Spotify family plan (have been customers for many years) and move to a service that does not deal with podcasts.

Mark Spotify app as inapropriate for children, maybe the exposure will make
them rethink podcasts. But they invested heavily, sobslim chance.

2023 and this is not yet done? really?

it's amazing to me that this isn't already implemented. Other podcast apps allow you to remove recommended and outright ban certain ones.

I have a podcast sitting in my `Your Episodes` that I have no playtime in, not following, not on any playlists and has a vulgar name for the title. If I'm driving with people I can't plug my spotify into carplay because of this. I really hope I can tag this podcast as "not wanted" but it literally will not go away

In a way I'm not surprised that Spotify is reluctant to allow podcasts to be turned off, given that they are "all in" on podcasts to drive their user base. But given that many podcasts are just long YouTube videos, and many others are based on sexual content, one would think they would at least give "managers" of Family Plan subscriptions the opportunity to disable podcasts altogether for their children.

Haha, January 2023, still receiving everyday a notification of new post in this thread that request the same thing that we want since more than 3 years now.

I solved the problem : I got 3 free months of Apple Music in november 2022. I really like it and I will renew the subscription when the trial will end. Bye bye Spotify...!

heheheheheheha

Apple Music app for Windows 11 just released and it is excellent!  One more reason to leave Spotify today!
