[All Platforms] Remember Position in Playlist / Album

Please remember the current song playing in a playlist so if I switch away to a different playlist and then switch back, Spotify will know where I left off.

I often can't finish a playlist right away or my mood changes so I might switch to a different playlist. Later, I want to finish the previous playlist, not start over again.

Hey everyone,

This idea accidentally ended up in the wrong board, so we're moving it back here.

We're keeping the Not Right Now status as we don't have any immediate plans to implement this. As soon as we have any new information to share, rest assured we'll check back in here.

Take care.

I’d like to suggest a feature that enhances the listening experience when switching between playlists. For example, if you’re playing a song from one playlist and decide to play something from another playlist, Spotify could remember the last song you were listening to in the first playlist.

When you return to that playlist, a prompt could ask if you’d like to resume where you left off. This would save time and eliminate the need to remember the song or manually search for it.

Yes exactly. After several years Spotify has not responded to these
requests and why I cancelled my subscription

I enjoy listening to multiple audiobooks or playlists without shuffle, and I would like to have the progress of each playlist saved so that I can switch between playlists.

Hello,

I use the favourite songs playlist where I have more than two thousands song. When I change for the other playlist or podcast I take a picture where I stopped in this favourite playlist. And if I want to continue there, I have to find the song in search of this playlist and than I have to scroll slowly down till i find the proper position and skip to other song for continuing in this playlist. Can you add some button for Skip in the list, etc, please?

Thank you

Vaclav

it would be great to have a feature that lets us resume a playlist from the exact song where we left off, even after listening to other content. Just like podcasts resume playback! Any chance this could be added?

It’s been several years since have been asking for this so we gave up

Have album show the last song you listened, or be able to bookmark your place in album, so if you’ve been listening to an album top to bottom, but switched to something else in between, you can easily pick up where you left off in that album.

We gotta support listening to albums top to bottom, chronologically!!!

Persona Context:
I have two modes when I use Spotify: 1) I hear a song out in the world, look it up, and see if I want to add it to a playlist. 2) I’m actively listening to music in Spotify.

Userstory:
As a Spotify user, I would like my place in my “active listening” context (playlist, radio, etc) to be stored so that if I listen to one-off songs, then return to a playlist, radio, etc, I can resume where I left off.

Details:

I shouldn’t have to remember how far I was into a playlist or (more likely for me) I shouldn’t get a completely new shuffle queue when moving from listening in one context (one-off song or another playlist or radio) back to another context (a different playlist, radio, etc, anything with a queue) where there’s a huge chance music I’ve listened to recently will be queued up top and music I haven’t heard yet will be buried in the new queue.

It is so frustrating being 75 songs into a 200+ song playlist, opening a Spotify link from a friend to see what they’ve sent, and then losing my place in my shuffled playlist. There are a couple ways to solve this problem (such as storing the same shuffle queue unless the user toggles the shuffle options again, so at least then the user just has to remember which song they listened to last or recently), but I think remembering a whole queue AND exactly where you were in it is the ideal solution. And if the user want to start fresh, the should choose to “play from the beginning”, just like a streamed tv show.

It would be super handy if Spotify remembered where you left off in a playlist, even if you listen to another playlist in between. Currently, progress is only saved for podcasts, not playlists.

My suggestion:

• If you switch playlists and come back to them later, it should be able to continue from the last point played.

• Users should be able to set in the settings whether they always want to start playlists from the beginning or save progress.

• This feature would be especially useful for long playlists or audiobooks.

This would make the listening experience much more pleasant, especially for users who regularly switch between playlists!

for some reason Spotify doesn't either get it or care as this has been
going on for years.
