[All Platforms] Separate Queues for Podcasts and Music

Hi there,

Would like to propose this again as it looks like related tickets were closed and not addressed.

Just want to share a concrete example on why this would be helpful... Throughout the day I'm listening to either music (while working) OR podcasts (while commuting). If I'm commuting to work, I'd like to queue up podcasts to listen to while commuting. This includes coming back to the same podcast queue when I'm commuting home from work (ie. same queue in the morning and evening). The problem is, I listen to music during the day while I'm working. So I need to clear my podcast queue and then queue everything up again after work.

I think fixing this would increase user engagement on your apps. For example, having my podcasts on Apple podcasts is just more convenient now because I don't need to deal with this daily inconvenience. Every week, that's multiple hours of engagement per user (for a subset of podcast listeners) that you could be gaining back.

I'm a huge fan of Spotify, so I'd love to be able to seamlessly use your app over Apple Podcasts for this use case. Thanks

Sometimes I'm in the music mood, another time it's only podcasts. But it's irritating when episodes and music are mixed in the queue, so I have to manually move several episodes first, then doing the same with music when I'm tired of listening to podcasts.

I just wanted to mention I just went through 4 or 5 already closed suggestions about the same topic (or broader - about on demand queues).

Each didn't get enough traction and got closed. Oldest was from ~2 years ago.

It's nice that this community portal is well moderated and those are linked, yet it's disappointing that previously cast votes don't count. Such a waste.

It seems like it's a feature people find welcome, yet not that many within given timeframe for it to get scheduled. Which seems sad.

Hey @sjhross

Your Idea has been submitted a while ago, and unfortunately hasn't gathered enough votes (50 votes within 3 months) to keep it active in the Exchange. Be sure to know that this does not mean that your Idea has been declined by Spotify.

Don't worry, your Idea will still be able to gain more votes, and may get a Live Idea status if it receives enough of them.

Please, so many hundred time please implement this.

I cannot use your app for podcasts because if I queue podcasts I cannot pause that queue and listen to music with my friends and then go back to my podcasts where I left off.

Am I totally missing something in the app?

This is torture.

Pure torture.

Now I have to listen to podcasts somewhere else and use Spotify less.

+1 for this, losing track of podcast episodes when playing music after my commute is frustrating

Ketoyo

The only solution is to use a seperate app for Podcasts until this issue is fixed

I am in the same boat as the user who posted this and it is very frustrating and time consuming having a single queue. Like the other user said, it incentivizes using multiple apps which I would prefer not to do because I love Spotify.
