[All Platforms] Spotify Karaoke

I know Spotify tested a karaoke feature a while back

Please support it officially and make it available in all countries.

It would be better if you could adjust the vocal level, but I don't want that. Just add a karaoke function.

A karaoke option where artists who want to participate upload their song files without the vocals so that users can sing the lyrics that would appear on the screen. The lyrics could be synchronized with the originally published song, which would make implementation easier. All of the above would create new data and statistics and at the same time add gamification to the service.

There are some songs that I prefer to listen to without the lyrics or sometimes I prefer no lyrics at all. I noticed that there are some songs that can be found on youtube with the lyrics removed. I was wondering if Spotify could have something similar. Maybe it could be added as an option if instrumental is typed before the name of the song or after.

Example, We Never Change (Instrumental) as another separate option to click on if someone searched for We Never Change in the search bar alongside the regular song with lyrics.

That way people that want both can put both versions of the song in their playlist as separate songs to avoid having to make a On and off bar for lyrics which is also an idea that was posted on this forum. Taking the lyrics out of songs seems complicated enough as it is without having to just pick one or the other if I understood that idea correctly.

Hi Spotify team, I’d love to request the addition (or wider rollout) of a full Karaoke Mode similar to what Apple Music currently offers. Specifically, please include:

Real-time, time-synced lyrics that highlight as the song plays, making it easier to follow along and sing;

1 - A slider to adjust the vocal level, allowing users to reduce or completely mute the lead vocals for a true sing-along experience;

2 - Duet lyric views and separate background vocals for supported songs, so multiple users can sing together or practice harmonies.

These features would greatly enhance user engagement, creativity, and social interaction within Spotify. Many of us love singing along to our favorite tracks, and this would make Spotify the best platform for both listening and performing.

In Japan, Spotify has a very useful feature that isn’t available in Europe and perhaps not even in the USA. In addition to displaying the lyrics, you can enable the Karaoke feature, which lets you adjust the volume of the vocal track, and after singing along, Spotify evaluates your performance based on your rhythm and other factors.

PLEASEEEEEEE MAKE A KARAOKE FEATURE, IK ITS ASKING A LOT BUT THIS WOULD TOTALLY INCREASE YOUR USER BASE.. PLSSSSSSS

It feels like it should be mandatory for songs intended to be used for karaoke should have readable lyrics for easy of use. For some reason, Spotify identifies karaoke versions of a song as instrumental (which is techically correct but leaves us with no lyrics to work with).

I would like to share a product idea that could extend Spotify with a new, social way of experiencing music — without introducing an additional subscription and without changing access to the existing catalog.

Games like SingStar (PlayStation) and Lips (Xbox) proved how popular karaoke-based music games can be. Their main weaknesses, however, were closed platforms, expiring licenses, hardware generation changes, and the inability to reuse previously purchased songs. Community-driven solutions exist, but they often operate in legal gray areas and struggle with quality, consistency, and accessibility.

Spotify already has the key foundation these platforms lacked: a massive, licensed music library available across many markets. This makes Spotify a natural candidate for a modern, device-independent karaoke and music game experience.

Concept

A built-in Karaoke / Party Mode integrated directly into Spotify, using only songs already available on the platform — no separate purchases and no extra subscription tiers.

Core Features

Karaoke gameplay inspired by SingStar:

- clean and simple interface

- synchronized lyrics

- basic pitch and rhythm feedback

Multi-device support:

- Smart TV as the main display

- smartphones used as microphones

- support for Bluetooth and USB microphones (Android / Smart TV friendly)

Social and party modes:

- solo, duet, and team-based singing

- friendly competition during parties or family gatherings

- session summaries and score comparisons

Accessibility and nostalgia:

- easy to use for all age groups

- great for revisiting classic and region-specific songs

Optional extensions:

- music quizzes by decade, genre, artist, or market

- “guess the song / artist” based on short audio clips

Why this makes sense for Spotify:

Higher user engagement
Interactive and visual experiences (lyrics, video, games) naturally increase session length and interaction with music.

Stronger social and living-room presence
Spotify becomes a shared entertainment platform for homes, parties, and gatherings — not only a personal listening app.

Full use of the existing catalog
No need for separate song libraries; Spotify’s licensed catalog is already global and diverse.

Increased perceived value of the service
Without adding a new subscription layer, this feature enhances the core product and supports retention and discovery.

Aligned with proven trends
Visual and interactive music features have been shown to drive more replays, saves, and sharing — karaoke fits this direction naturally.

Summary

Spotify is uniquely positioned to create a modern, legal, and accessible alternative to classic karaoke games — without hardware lock-in, expired licenses, or fragmented platforms. A simple, polished Karaoke / Party Mode in Spotify’s visual style could become a natural extension of the service and a new way for people to enjoy music together.

Apple Music offers a feature that allows users to reduce the vocal volume in songs, enabling them to sing along. I believe this functionality would appeal to many listeners, as it provides a distinct and engaging experience and it would make some unique experiences between people

It would be a really nice idea for a feature like this to be implemented because it would attrack a lot of listeners and it would make the experience a million times better

I’ve been a Spotify user for a long time and would like to suggest a feature that could make the platform more interactive.

Spotify could introduce a Karaoke Mode that allows users to sing along without the artist’s vocals, using a built-in voice removal tool. This feature could be supported by AI-generated and synced lyrics, especially for songs that currently don’t have lyrics available. For music with local or regional expressions, collaboration with native speakers could help ensure accuracy.

A dedicated Karaoke tab would be a strong differentiator for Spotify, especially since other platforms don’t offer access to all songs.

I believe this feature would add creativity, fun, and value to the Spotify experience.
