[All Platforms][Your Library] Increase maximum Songs allowed in Your Music

I feel like the maximum amount of songs allowed in one playlist, and subsequently in "Songs" playlist under the new "Collections" feature, should be more than 10,000.

Quite frankly it should be unlimited.

We are paying for a service but limited on how many songs we are able to save? That is absurd to me.

I recently started saving all of my albums into "Collections" and got stuck at about 1/4 of the way through - 10,000 songs has been reached and I am no longer able to save any more albums.

PLEASE INCREASE MAX NUMBER OF SONGS IN COLLECTION FEATURE!!!

WHAT IS A COLLECTION IF YOU HAVE TO LIMIT YOUR TASTE???

Updated on 2020-05-26

Hey,

Thanks for coming to the Idea Exchange.

We're excited to be marking this idea as implemented!
We've now removed the limit on saved items in Your Library, making it possible to save songs, and albums on Spotify to your heart's content.

As the app has changed quite a bit since this idea was submitted, please be aware that some functionality is now different. This change does not impact the limit on the number of songs in a playlist other than your Liked Songs.

For more info, check out this blog post.

Are you sure? I think that saving the album it counts the single songs in it.

Almost, how I understood it an album counts as all songs + 1  - so 10.000 tracks is a lot less if you save albums...

Hi @Mikko_baffetto,

The only reason I can imagine is that searches will become slow and offline content will inrease so users will run into problems. That will impact the other 99% of the users, especially users with cheap devices.

Asking why is sort of irrelevant at this point. Asking Spotify for anything
is a waste of time.

They made one change: Saving a whole album now takes one slot of 10,000,
not one slot per track.

For those already at the limit, this doesn't help, unless you go back and
*remove* all the old songs, then add the albums back, as suggested above.
(They will no longer show up in your "saved songs" list, however, only in
your "saved albums" list.)

It's not going to get any better than that.

If you don't like that, try another music service, as nearly every other
service has a much higher library limit. Yes, I'm aware the other services
don't have crossfade, Spotify Connect, Discover Weekly, etc.

You choose which tradeoffs you're willing to make... but the 10k total cap
is not going anywhere!

Can you shuffle all the albums to play songs randomly? If not, then even
saving 10,000 albums doesn't achieve what most people want - to randomly
select the songs that play from all the music you like.

The useless exercise of complaint has still a point:

(a) for the fun of it
(b) for being here for the forthcoming members of
#spotifyEpicCollectionFriendsClub
(c) for many of us still value Spotify's music catalogue (though I can't
really assure it's the biggest)

Thus, I've been making some noise in Twitter and encouraging people to do
so. Tagging the founder, tagging other music services, and perhaps
involving highly followed music lovers under hashtag
#spotifyEpicCollectionFriendsClub

Cheers!

To be clear, plasticloud, I'm not telling folks not to complain... I'm
obviously still here spouting off! I'm just saying: don't expect any
change. You're better off switching to another music provider, *then*
coming back here to complain, like I did!

To answer the other question: Can you shuffle all the saved albums? I don't
think you can... at least I don't see a way in the Spotify iOS app.

Hi @noidontwantto,

You don't have to put the albums back. Just remove the songs via desktop.

Of course this is only a solution for people who like to save albums, not for people who like to save all songs of each album.

I have now saved all my albums, a few hundred probably and a list of 100 liked songs which are not related to the saved albums.

Regards,

René

That was my experience as well, @Rene01 - took a couple of hours to go
through and make sure that anything that was a full saved album was saved
as just the album.

Like you, I went from nearly 10,000 saved songs/items to about 160, plus
about 200 saved albums.

Hi @Rene01,

I wasn't aware of the tweak you mentioned. But as stated by others on this thread, this is not a fix but a bolt on. The fact that the changes came through silently is a prime example of how Spotify is currently ignoring these requests.

I am also not convinced about this 99% figure being banded about. I have asked for evidence of this which has not been forthcoming.

@noidontwantto. Totally understand where you are coming from. The evidence shows how they do not care. But we can't give up. That said we can definitely hurt them, by leaving their services, which I have done. I am now with G Music. It may not have all the perks but it doesn't have a stupid limit.
