[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

Could you tell us, what is the reason for removing widget on Android? I just found out about it and couldn't find any explanation anywhere... It is a really stupid idea. I have been using Spotify for 5 years, paying for it for the last 3 years, but this is a really bad move. One of the reasons I decided to pay for Premium was I wanted to listen to Spotify on my phone, which is now much more uncomfortable. I hope you bring the widget back, otherwise I will probably have to leave Spotify. I am so sorry to even think about that, but you leave me no choice.

Since the widget is gone i have Problems to play the musik when my samsung s9 is locked and somtimes when not. When its locked the musik stops all the time and i have to unlock to continue. I reinstalled alredy and the tried the other solutions whitout success. Pleas give the Widget back, its not funny this way. Thanks

I actually thought they would come to their senses and bring back the widget. Then I read this plausible theory that it´s to force users to open the app and be exposed to ads - sorry, "announcements".

I guess Spotify just doesn´t care about what their customers wants so I decided to stop being one of their customers, and signed up for a Deezer account instead.
- Goodbye Spotify, it was fun while it lasted...

Without these shenanigans I wouldn't have heard about Deezer which is amazing! 

There's now a Deezer widget where my Spotify used to be, and if by September 10th you won't return yours I'll be canceling my family's accounts and move us all to Deezer. I have all my music there and it's cheaper with better sound quality! Good job Spotify, that exactly the right way to crush down a company.. Go on and **bleep** off more of your users, see what happens..

Il y avait déjà un widget, depuis pas longtemps il a disparu, c'est très dommage et très embêtant.

You have to be joking, literally every Android user that buys Android for it's features uses widgets just like the one Spotify had. By removing the widget you are putting the features of your app behind many others on the platform that provide the same service, which could be seen as putting yourselves behind the competition. Removing a good feature that everyone uses because it is "redundant" when it is convenient and OPTIONAL for users that take advantage of Android is only hurting the users that care. BRING IT BACK!!!!

Anyone have any recommendations for new platforms? I'm getting tired of my favorite music service getting rid of features that I like and have been paying for over the course of the last 3 years

Why are you handling this issue like this?  This is very insulting to your customers!  Bring the widget back or you will be losing them.  Your choice.
