Bring Back Unlike Button on Discover Weekly

Discover Weekly has been a great tool in the past for finding new music when there was a like and unlike button for each song. These buttons allowed me to influence what Discover Weekly fed me each week, resulting in a playlist that consistently fed me music that aligned with my tastes.

But now the unlike button is long gone and every since Discover Weekly consistently plays music that does not align with my tastes—because I can't really curate other than a "like" button. Ive read that simply fast forwarding a song you don't like in the latest will serve as an 'unlike' but I see no evidence of that working. Also it sucks if you listen to your Discover Weekly playlist multiple times during the week and those songs play again and again.

Release Radar has an unlike button. Unlike buttons (and like buttons) provide significant utility for a user to craft the algorithm and curate the music they want. Can we get the unlike button back, please in Discover Weekly?

Same thing here I just realised my list was off for some weeks now.. Same for the DJ.

With all those AI it is too bad we can't like, dislike to give some guidance

So much this! It feels like I'm being force fed stuff I don't like, which seems like something you should have control over if you are a paid customer. Why remove the previous gesture for saying "I don't like this, nix it immediately"???

@jennybryan I can't help but wonder if by removing the dislike button, forcing us to listen to more songs from a playlist, the benefit only serves Spotify. Essentially they can show artists that their music is being played more, skewing engagement data. Dislike buttons will suppress plays and result in a less appealing platform to the artists... ?

Hi,

I have no idea who came up with the idea for the Discover Weekly feature at Spotify. Making you go to the artist's page and click "Don't play this artist" is the worst idea I've ever heard. To tell the Spotify system that I don’t like a song, but it ends up affecting the entire artist.

What happens if I like a few songs from that artist but not the one in Discover Weekly?

The dislike button that was previously available on the Discover Weekly playlist was great and easy to use. Now, the process is more complicated, and many users may not like this change, which could lead them to switch to another service.

In my opinion, if you want to implement this ridiculous change, it should be directly on the Discover Weekly playlist instead of being hidden away, forcing users to search online for instructions on how to do it.

Thanks

I wholeheartedly agree. That's the thing I liked about Pandora: the ability to "thumbs down" songs to never listen to them again on a certain station. Spotify should jump on this opportunity to improve their platform.
